5.0 out of 5 stars Mysterious and magical
I really love Barbara Erskine’s beautiful books, and this one was no exception. As always, the author does her research well, and although a lot of this story is purely fiction, it is based on a great deal of historical information. The story is haunting, sad and, at the same time, romantically beautiful and extremely exciting. There is, as always, a hint of danger in the chasing of ghosts and stepping into other worlds – something that is and forever has been of great interest to me. I have a huge imagination and can so easily get deeply involved in this sort of story – I am probably a Bea or an Emma at heart. My grandfather used to tell me stories of ghosts and ghoulies and this has stuck with me my whole life. The ending of this book was just perfect, tying up all the loose ends but at the same time, leaving something dangling. I am just sorry that it took me so long to get around to reading it because it took me to another world where I could escape everything around me. Once more, thank you Barbara – you had me hooked into your world from The Lady of Hay onwards and I hope you don’t stop taking us on magical journeys.

Thank you very much. Love Barbara Erskine's books. She has a way of drawing you in from the beginning and you can imagine the scenes and story with a birds eye view. Can't wait to get reading.
5.0 out of 5 stars A stunning read
This is the first of this author's books I've read, and it most certainly won't be the last! What a special story this is...really evocative! I absolutely adored the characters, especially Bea and her beautiful patient husband. The whole thing is simply breathtaking, from the setting in Mid Wales to the magic and mystery as the story steadily unravels.I blubbed at the end as it was so moving. Historical, yes, but never boring, and quite honestly, I never wanted it to end!Looking forward to other books by this fabulous writer.Five stars!
3.0 out of 5 stars Not This authors Best to Date
I have always waited with anticipation for Barbara Erskine's latest book. My Kindle version came through swiftly and I started reading eagerly. Very soon I became disappointed as there were too many main characters chasing the same historical event. Bea was very weak and poor Emma too young and naive to hold the plot together. Sadly this book, in my opinion, does not come up to the earlier books and I've been thinking this for a while since 'Sleepers Castle'.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great artist never disappoints
Love this author she intertwines history with current day and I just can’t put her books down.
one of her best!
This is definitely my 2nd favourite of her books. Lady of Hay will be the best for ever and there are some others, that are good. But Dream Weavers has it all: history, interesting story, interesting characters.A page turner.
A great read
Barbara Erskin is a favourite author of mine and she didn't disappoint with this latest book. I would recommend it to all fans of this author.
Another Winner
Barbara Erskiine has been a favorite author of mine ever since I was a teenager and borrowed my mother’s copy of Lady of Hay. That book was my first foray into the world of time-slip, which has been a favorite genre of mine ever since. So I was thrilled to get a copy of her new book The Dream Weavers.Barbara once again takes the reader into ancient British history with a supernatural bent, The story follow Simon a historian who has rented a cottage on the Welsh border to finish a book he is writing in peace and quiet. Only he is not getting that peace and quiet. He keeps hearing a woman calling out the name Elise and banging on the door to the cottage, but when he looks, no one is there. The book he is writing is about the Saxon King Offa. After Simon complains to his landlady about the disturbances, she contacts her friend Bea, wife of of a Cannon at the local Cathedral. Bea can sense and contact spirits, a gift that she likes to keep on the down low, due to her husband’s occupation with the Church. She is a cleanser who helps lost souls find their way to peace, but she may have bitten off more than she can chew with this case. Bea finds herself slipping mentally into the past, viewing the life and trials of King Offa’s youngest daughter Eadburh. Is Eadburh the spirit that is haunting the area around the cottage? Is there anyway that Bea can help her find eternal peace? What could be an intriguing window into the past becomes a dangerous situation when Simon’s daughter is pulled into the mix. Is the spirit out for assistance or revenge? The book is definitely among my favorites of Barbara Erskine. I love the historical aspect (as an American I had never heard of King Offa) and I love a supernatural twist with my historical books. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested on Saxon history or who loves a good supernatural time-slip.Thanks to Netgalley, Harper Collins UK, and of course the author, Barbara Erskine for the chance to read and review this book.
