5.0 out of 5 stars Very educational!
This book is extremely educational. There are a lot of historical facts that were also new for me and it is full of colourful pictures. It catches children's attention within a second and the quality of the paper is great too.It is definitely a good read for children to educate them about Romans in Britain in a very interesting way.Recommended!Thank you for reading my review. I hope that you found it helpful.
4.0 out of 5 stars Nearly perfect
Started to read this book with my 8 year old daughter and 10 year old son; daughter lost interest but by son describes it as ‘one of my favourite history books - and I love history books’, so I’d say better for readers aged 9+The book presents information in a very appealing way; each section begins with a timeline and contains small amounts of informative text, greatly enhanced by photographs, illustrations and maps. A short (15 question) multiple choice quiz at the end checks understanding.I especially love that the mystery surrounding the ninth legion is mentioned as I plan to read the fiction book The Eagle of the Ninth to my children soon!It would be perfect if not for sloppy spelling errors, including Vindolonda (instead of Vindolanda) on page 31, containted (instead of contained) on page 53 and part sof (instead of parts of) on page 55. It’s also frustrating that the details of the map on pages 34-35 are obscured by positioning it across two pages which do not lay flat due to how the book is bound. And Apollo is referred to as a Goddess rather than a God?
5.0 out of 5 stars Love The Everything Series - Romans In Britain
National Geographic have a way of combining pictures and facts into a quality book that engages readers of all ages and these 'Everything' series books are no exception and are so well priced, they are worth every penny.Aimed at 7-11year olds, this one on Romans In Britain has detailed, fact filled information over 64 glossy, good quality pages that excites, engages and educates on everything Roman. After a brief intro, it splits down into four main themes - Invasion, Settlement, Impact and The End Of The Roman Britain. Each is then further split into themes and areas related to the sections. There are maps, pictures, diagrams galore that are interspersed with the fact and information given. It also has an interactive glossary, which I love the idea of, as well as directions for where to get more info.I love this series and will be looking out for more to add to my little one's library as they become available. I can certainly recommend and whether you have a book lover or simply one who loves pictures and diagrams, there is something for every reader in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Illustration. Cool Facts.
I used to watch Nat Geo a lot before when I had a lot of free time. I have a few Nat Geo books at home that are also equally interesting. This Nat Geo book for kids is entitled “Everything Romans in Britain”. This is one of the books in this range. The others are - Everything (1) Anglo Saxons (2) Stone Age to Iron Age (3) World War II.The book is paperback but the covers are made from cardboard and has a great illustration. The pages are made from thick paper and has a glossy finish. The photographs and illustrations are colourful. Each pages are well printed. The book includes facts about the Romans in Britain. The armies, emperors and places. It can be useful for school or just for general knowledge. My son is only 4 years old so he was not very interested when I read the book with him but I myself enjoyed reading it.Sold at £6.55 at the time of this review. Recommended.
5.0 out of 5 stars Engaging, colourful and educational
I hated history at school so I cringed at this book saying it was 'fun' but I completely changed my mind. It's a larger than usual book with each chapter laid out over a double page. There are a lot of high quality images which bring this history to life and I liked that early on it does state to beware because a lot of the Roman history is based on their writings and little British writings so while there is a lot of archaeological evidence historians can only interpret it. I like that it started with explaining how the army came about before the timeline begins in 55BC. Each bit of information is boxed, easy to understand and concise so you can get a basic understanding without being bogged down in information. I like that the history continued after the fall of the Empire and there's even an interactive glossary at the back (a little quiz). The book is engaging, colourful and educational. Highly recommended.
