5.0 out of 5 stars Karin Slaughter is a very accomplished author
Karin Slaughter is a very accomplished author who writes wonderful characters, smoothly bringing together the two series and demonstrates great skill when writing about the darkest and most horrific of crimes. As you read After That Night your heart is in your mouth, or at least mine was, it’s heartbreaking. Without being overtly graphic Slaughter uses conversation, amongst other things, to put across what happens and then adds the thrill and tension from action to keep this a really compelling read. The subject matter is definitely not easy reading and some of the details and statistics that flow through the narrative and which, sadly, never seem to get any better despite all the recent developments and revelations such as the #MeToo campaign are quite horrifying. This is a book with balance in the sense that not all men are bad nor, indeed, are all women good. The revelations throughout are disturbing and upsetting but necessary. This is a story that keeps having to be told because these crimes keep happening as is demonstrated with Sara and the other women in this story and Karen Slaughter has, once again, written about these crimes and those who seek to catch the perpetrators in a very powerful, relatable and readable manner.
5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant as always.
First Karin Slaughter I have read for a while. Forgotten how intense and captivating her writing was.
4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic read but some chapters were very long
Trigger WarningThis book was a fantastic read, it was extremely well written and showed Sara’s time a med school and the devastating circumstances that she suffered. The book includes violent crimes against women and girls.I love the family dynamics of the main group of characters, they may not all be related to each other but they have certainly got a family vibe going on.My only negative comment is that some of the chapters were too long, I can see why they had to be but it prevented me from reading a chapter before bed, I ended up nodding off halfway through 🤣Recommend this book.
5.0 out of 5 stars excellent
Had me gripped from the first page if I’d had the time to read it all at once I would have.
5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent read.
A brilliant book with amazing characters. I absolutely love Will and Sara. I think the mix with Faith and Amanda works great and would not be the same without them. I'm looking forward to reading the next book.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good read
4/5
4.0 out of 5 stars A pretty decent read
Karin Slaughter writes… pretty gory whodunnits, staring Will Trent, a Georgia Bureau of Investigation officer, and his coroner girlfriend, Sara Linton. In this book, Linton is in the Emergency Room, when a patient discloses a rape, before dying. The rest of the book follows what happens at the trial, which is a problem for Linton, because she knows the family accused of the crime (at a distance), and they know her history. The book is a pretty decent read. It’s not exactly Dickens or Shakespeare, but it rattles along at a good rate, which is good for a murder mystery. It’s also worth noting that people will wonder about preachiness, when the Me Too movement is involved. It wasn’t. It slipped facts in, but in a way that wouldn’t make guys feel like they were being attacked all the time. The one grumble I have is that the finale depends on trained investigators have a chronic case of the stupids. My first thought turned out to be bang on, and anyone with a modicum of common sense would have asked, or at wondered the same, out loud.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great book
Great book 📚 👍
Compelling, intense, thought-provoking....an edge-of-your seat thriller.....
After That Night (Will Trent, #11) by Karin SlaughterSara tries to save the life of a patient (Dani Copper) who has been brutally attacked and left for dead. Unable to save her Dani, Sara decides she is not going to let this rest. Will investigates a case with a few similarities to a horrific event in Sara's life fifteen years prior. How are the two cases connected and what will be found as they did deeper into this case? With the Help of Faith and Amanda ,secrets are slowly revealed leading to the most disturbing outcome of an unimaginable crime spree. The story moves at an even pace leading up to a slow burn. With attention to details, engaging dialog, edge-of-your seat chills, intense nail-biting moments. I was engrossed from the start, leading up to the shocking conclusion. After That Night has been one of Karin Slaughter most compelling stories yet. I highly recommend to those who enjoy procedural crime/thriller/suspense.*Trigger warnings as mentions of rape/sexual assault and suicide
Superbuch
Spannend wie alle Bücher der Autorin
Came on time, friendly courier good service
I love reading, and have ordered many books, great service
after that night
Very interesting book — plot was well worked out. To know there are criminal ppl like the depraved characters portrayed in the book is incredibly scary. The number of sexual assault victims and the organisation involved in the ring outlined in this story almost reaches the level of incredulity. But on another level, we know such depravity exists. We also know there are dedicated men and women in police agencies trying to bring justice to their victims. They pay a heavy price being exposed to such depravity continually. I don’t think I’ll forget this novel. I’m not a better I formed person for reading it. I wished I hadn’t read it.
as always
Suspence - as in all her novels - from start to end, incredible not to be captured by her books.
