5.0 out of 5 stars I never knew…
I have an acquaintance whose first name is Tristan. I asked if he was named after one of King Arthur's Knights. He wasn't. However, I would never have thought of that possibility had it not been for the first story in this book. As one would expect of the National Trust, it is well-presented, and the author, Jo Woolf, has a compact/succinct writing style which flows well and crams a lot into a small space without being heavy-going to read or understand. I haven't read beyond the second story yet - where I now know the inspiration for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Hound of the Baskervilles - but I shall look forward to finding time to do so. I've already mentioned the book to a friend and will buy another to give as a Christmas present. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting
Some very good information in it
4.0 out of 5 stars Easy read
Not quite what I was expecting, I thought there would be a lot more photos to show the landmarks which would’ve been useful to get an idea of the places being described.I guess they omitted photos to keep more of the mystery alive when discussing the myths and legends of certain areas of interest.Interesting read nonetheless. Focusing more on folklore and tales rather than scientific exploration of the sites.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent gift
Was very well received by my friends in the US so it turned out to be a great gift to send when I’d run out of ideas.
