5.0 out of 5 stars Learning + Minecraft = Genius Idea!
If you have an 8-year-old boy who’s into Minecraft (and really, who doesn’t?), this workbook is absolutely brilliant! It takes the creativity and excitement of Minecraft and combines it with educational activities like math and design technology. The tasks are engaging and cleverly designed to make learning fun while tapping into their love for the game. I can’t wait to dive into it with my son, he’s already excited to get started! This is a must-have for any parent looking to sneak in a bit of learning while keeping their child entertained. Highly recommended!
5.0 out of 5 stars Minecraft book
Very good Minecraft book my son who is 10 really enjoys it and is obsessed with anything Minecraft. it shows him a lot of tips and tricks in the book to play the game.
5.0 out of 5 stars Collecting emeralds and saving the coral reefs
My son is pretty Minecraft obsessed so I thought he would love this book but I feel like at age 7 it's still a bit above his level. I do like that it is told in a story narrative following Cam and Leela on their adventures. It covers life cycles of animals and plants, ecosystems, food chains, conservation, types of rocks, renewable energy, habitat and adaptations. I like that book acknowledges there are differences between the Minecraft world and real life e.g. stating frogs don't eat slim in real life but a lot of the Minecraft world is also related to the real world so they can do projects to build their own pyramids in game like the Egyptians, make obsidian and even become a coral scientist to assemble an artificial reef and build turtle nurseries to release them back to the ocean when they are big enough. I thought when the book arrived that it was solely for use in game so it was good to see that it introduced them to a subject and with the information provided there were sections they could fill in missing words, explain their thinking to a question and collect emeralds based on their answers to these offline before then going on to try the projects in game. I've loved just how educational the game itself has been so this gives them fun things to accomplish while learning in game. The back has answers where they can find out if they've got the right answer / how many emeralds they get for a correct answer.
4.0 out of 5 stars Piqued interest for a while
I got this for my 10 year old son, who at the moment has phases of what he is interested in. He used to be quite avidly in to Minecraft, but now enjoys things with a bit more fast-paced challenge to them.He sat down and read through the first chapter of the book, and started building out the exercise, but like the main character in the book, didn't exactly plan things but threw himself in to it.I think if your child is a good reader (i.e. reading is easy, which it is for my son), and you have them at the stage that they aren't experts in Minecraft, then this is going to be a really god hit. At this stage they would learn and enjoy the learning. However, I think for my son, he is slightly too far in to the game, so the challenge just wasn't quite there enough to fully capture his interest. Possibly it would be good to do in groups with slightly younger children with an adult walking them through the exercises.
5.0 out of 5 stars Minecraft learning!
I love this idea and it's a great way to align kids interests with their learning. The book offers loads of detail and gets progressively more challenging always including a side of Minecraft to make it fun.
5.0 out of 5 stars Not formally child
Unfortunately my child was not impressed with this book, but through no fault of the boom, I think she just got fed up with the Minecraft itself. And now I feel that I should have looked for this kind of book a few years ago.I have looked through the book myself and I think it is great educational tool for children that do have interest in Minecraft.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and educational
This Minecraft Science and Environment workbook is really good fun whilst equally being very informative and educational. The book contains activities to complete on minecraft and also parts to complete in the book. I would say that it is quite challenging for younger children, around the lower end of the age range, probably more suited to the 10+ range, due to the difficulty of the content and the vocabulary used. It would certainly be good for children preparing for pre-high school exams. The book itself feels well made, is quite sturdy and has bright colourful printing that doesnt have any smudging. The paper is not too thin so wont rip too easily.Overall, this is a good workbook for science revision and activities all linked to Minecraft, however I would say the age range would be more appropriate for 10+.
