Nice easy book to follow from a beginners point of view. All the well known carols in easy to follow tunes. Bit of fun for the festive season.

This is an excellent book for both adults and children who want a simple book where they can play a few Carols. It is mostly geared towards children but is not too simplified so I do have some adult pupils which have enjoyed this book. There are numerous titles in this book, all really popular, there are no 'fillers' in just to make up the numbers, every piece is a welcome addition. There are some good, simple yet effective duets, a really enjoyable book. It's reasonably priced, like the rest of the books in Pauline Hall's Piano Time series, and the books' design means that it stays open on the music stand and lays flat so the book doesn't fly off whilst you are playing. For newer learners really but my pupils who have been playing longer still like to dig this book out and use it as a starting point and add their own notes to it also. The pieces are of quite equal standard throughout the book so it's not like some Carol Books you can get, where, the relatively new learner will want to do a few carols and only be able to do the first 2 or 3 until next year; in this book they can easily manage all of these so it's a real boost to their confidence. Very useful.

This book has all the classics. They are really simple kids versions though. Suitable for any child that is working towards their ABRSM Grade 1 or similar. If you're child is a bit more advanced then there are also accompaniment parts too, so two people can practise together. My only warning is that competent pianists might find the versions in here too simple. It's really a beginner's book.

Excellent for very new students! Traditional, well known and modern carols can be found in both solo and duet format. Accompaniments are in no way difficult, perhaps too easy, but allows room for teacher flexibility in harmony and role.Most are found around middle C position - great for the early learning - which is great practise for those who have moved on to learning in similar motion setups, to review old hand positions, whilst being fun and Christmassy. Not too austere, but not overly colourful either.Highly recommended!

I am an adult retuned to piano and studying for Grade 1 whilst my daughter is age 8 and studying for Grade 1Prep Test. Despite it being easy play my daughter found it slightly too hard but could play a couple of carols. I also found it a but more challenging than expected and could manage my way through more than half the carols afterasking my piano teacher how to play things I had not yet encountered. My advice is that beginners will be able to play this but will have to put in some practise first! It was still quite fun to be playing carols at Christmas and I hope to have mastered the entire book by next Christmas.had not yet encountered.

My children have turned to this book every year for the last five years and it has bought a lot of Christmas joy to our household. Used by a now 13 year old Grade 2 player and a 15 year old who doesn’t even play the piano but has spent many hours sitting in front of this book and taught herself how to play the carols because she loves the music. They now play the duets and never seem to tire of playing the carols every year. Very simple but lovely arrangements.
