5.0 out of 5 stars Can't recommend this enough
I very very rarely leave reviews on anything. But I'm so so happy that I found this cookbook and it has made my maternity leave over the last few months an absolute joy.I'm not a natural cook and I'm mostly impatient when it comes to cooking for myself. This book has really made me interested in making food for my baby and to try out new things I never would have made.Pros:- Recipes are super quick. This is important when they're going to wake up from a nap any second or are bored in a high chair! Most take less than 30 minutes which is essential for me.- Not a lot of faffing or ingredients required - normal things we'd buy and have in the house (bar a couple of things like sesame oil).- Fantastically tasty recipes. My husband is SUCH a fan, as is my baby.- Easy to make. Pretty much everything I've made has been really straightforward.- It's really pushed me to try out new things (I can finally make a good white sauce for example).- A lot of variety and good nutritional value for my baby. Reviewers saying things should be lower fat etc should remember that babies and children are not supposed to be dieting.- Pretty much everything freezes or keeps well. I batch make and freeze a lot.Cons:- Although I like that mostly the recipes are a guideline rather than exacting, there are a couple of mistakes where things are on the ingredient list but missed out. Not too much of an issue though, I just missed them out.- A bit inconsistent with freezing/keeping advice. Not every recipe has a comment. To be honest though, these are small points and I am genuinely thankful to Rebecca for making our weaning process a lot more fun and enjoyable.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great recipe book!
This book has been absolutely brilliant for trying out new, delicious recipes suitable for our baby, that my partner and I can also eat. The recipes are easy to make and have helped us cook a wider variety of dishes. Our little one has loved the recipes too. Thank you!
5.0 out of 5 stars super helpful for BLW
i was struggling to come up with meal ideas doing baby led weaning and these recipes are perfect!it’s definitely catered for family friendly meals, with most of the meals being big enough for a family of 3-4. there is such a variety of meals, snacks and sweet treats and is inclusive of alternative ingredients - i finally have a huge list of recipes to use up my frozen breast milk!my baby girl has loved almost all the things i’ve made so far, definitely recommend
5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant book
I was struggling with meal time for my family and was going to buy the Ella's kitchen book, but after reading many reviews thought I would try this one instead - I am so pleased I did. Lots of practical recipes, easy to follow and well laid out. Great book!
4.0 out of 5 stars Good recipes but sooo much cheese!
I was recommended this book and I do like it and would recommend it to others. The good: It's given me the inspiration and confidence to carry on with baby led weaning (which my baby definitely prefers). The recipes are tasty and things all of us have enjoyed. There's nothing particularly complicated in here - the recipes are easy to follow and so far the ingredients are things I already have in.There are some genuinely quick and easy things I wouldn'tve thought of - like a microwave pasta sauce etc.I haven't found anything too adventurous for my 7 month old. The book is great at explaining how to serve the food to your baby. I saw a reviewer saying a 6 month old wouldn't have chicken nuggets and chips. Mine did! Chicken "nuggets" cut lengthwise and sweet potato wedges. He loved it and was fine eating it. But this obviously depends on your individual approach to weaning and your baby's ability to hold, chew, swallow etc. Only you know your child! The bad: I'd struggle to use it every day - some of the recipes say they take 20 minutes when they take that long in the oven without the prep (chicken satay I'm looking at you!) And the amount of washing up for some of them is insane. If it takes 10 minutes to make but uses every utensil in the drawer it isn't worth it!To make things taste good a lot of the recipes have cheese. I'm OK with that sometimes but not sure I want to give my baby cheese every day - I wouldn't usually eat that much and there's quite a lot of salt in it.Also the recipes use low salt versions of things but use twice as much as I would use of the normal one. Not sure there's any point switching?I'd like it if allergens were marked more clearly on the recipes. Like sesame in the hummus for example. But it's not a massive issue - I can figure it out. Some of the portion sizes are a bit questionable - possibly because my little one is very little!I don't care about the pictures personally but I guess more would be nice.
5.0 out of 5 stars The only weaning book you need!
Having tried a few other weaning books before buying this one I didn’t have high hopes but this book has been amazing and is honestly the only book you will need! I have never made So many recipes out of a cookbook and they are so easy to make and tasty! My fussy eating husband will even try most of them! The baby loves them! So many of these can be batch cooked and frozen for later which is very helpful. I haven’t bothered with any other books since I got this one and all my mummy friends have found the same!
5.0 out of 5 stars Such easy recipes but so delicious for all the family
Ive cooked so many recipes from this book already and only had it for 2 weeks. Everything is so simple to follow but also so healthy and nutritional for the whole family to share. My baby has loved everything I've made from this recipe book so far and there is fab information throughout it aswell for your babys weaning journey. Highly recommend and will be telling all my mum friends about this.
Used for 3 years now- it’s my GO TO for my toddler
The media could not be loaded. I highly recommend the cook book for babies and toddlers that I have been using for the past 3 years. The recipes in this book are absolutely fantastic and easy to follow. It has been a lifesaver for me as a parent, as my daughter absolutely loves the food that I prepare using this book. One of the best features of this cook book is that it includes recipes that freeze well. This has been incredibly convenient for me, as I can prepare a large batch of food and store it for later use. It saves me a lot of time and effort, especially on busy days. While the recipes in this book are great, I do like to add a little more flavor to the dishes as my daughter is getting older. I tend to up the herbs and spices to suit our taste preferences. This allows me to introduce a wider range of flavors to my daughter's palate and helps her develop a love for different types of food.Overall, I cannot recommend this cook book enough. It has been a staple in my kitchen for the past 3 years and has made mealtime a breeze. The recipes are delicious, easy to follow, and can be adapted to suit individual taste preferences. If you're looking for a cook book that will make mealtime enjoyable for both you and your little one, this is the one to get!
Great for first time moms
This book made me feel SO much more confident about BLW my kiddo. So many useful and easy recipes to incorporate and there’s a ton of family friendly ones too. I love the freezer stash section. Recommend!
Need to try yet
Still need to try the recipes but they look delicious
Good but not always clear and diverse
I like this book, we bought it recently and use it more and more. The book has lot of good ideas, pictures (although not for every receipt), good marking of receipts: Veg, Gluten-free etc. I especially like the section about cooking in batches. As someone noticed before, unfortunately, not every description is very clear. I tried to cook a zucchini-cheese pieces and it became a disappointing mess: it was not stated in the receipt that zucchini should be squeezed of liquid before putting it into the dough (as I usually do it with other receipts) and it was said that the dough should be 1 cm thick and no suggestions regarding possible size of a baking dish. In my opinion, the book has too many pasta receipts and receipts with pre-made store dough. Some receipts are a bit expensive, for example the receipt of cookies required a lot of maple syrup.
Really good
