About the Author

Alison Smith is a sewing expert and tutor. Her sewing school, the Alison Victoria School of Sewing, is the largest independent sewing school in England, and offers courses and workshops on all aspects of sewing. Alison regularly speaks at specialist sewing shows and has had projects and articles published in a variety of UK magazines. She is a regular contributor to Sewing World magazine, and appeared on the ITV television series Ladette to Lady teaching dressmaking skills. In 2013 Alison was awarded an MBE for services to sewing and corsetry.

It arrived the next day. I ordered it the night before and it came the next day. That never happens. The book is amazing too. It has everything I need to learn altering and making clothes. It is very well written and easy to understand. I can't wait to get started. Highly recommend this book. Nothing like going old school when you need to learn something. Books are good and this book is hard back so won't rip easily. We'll impressed.

It is more or less the same as the previous edition ( which I have got!!!!!) But with the addition of a rather nice shirt dress. They seem to have included updates articles and some couture hits which is all good.

Acquistato usato in ottime condizioni, confermo lo stato e la corretta indicazione da parte del venditore. All’inizio ci sono tre sezioni generali che spiegano le nozioni di base relative a strumenti, tessuti e spiegazioni tecniche sui cartamodelli, per poi proseguire con un’ampia sezione relativa alle tecniche di cucito, alla costruzione di tutti i principali indumenti, con fotografie numerosissime e molto dettagliate. È interamente in inglese, ma le foto aiutano la comprensione.

I'm really impressed with the book! Excellent for beginners (which is my case). Can recommend. There aren't that many patterns, but there are a lot of different techniques described which can be used to alter basic patterns into more personalised designs.

Making draft is nit explained at all

After reading everything about this book for like a 100 times, i thought that the book offers basic fabric cutting techniques… but it just keeps talking about various types of fabrics and needles and threads.I have given it 3 stars for the overall quality of the book and its pages.There is no proper draft making and and cutting technique explained.Hence, I returned it.Can somebody pls suggest me a book wherein I will get step by step details of drawing a draft as per measurements first and then cutting
