Such a profound and liberating teaching about the truth and the benefits of forgiveness. If you want to have freedom and peace, you should read this book.
5.0 out of 5 stars Life changing - All Christians Should Read This
Harbouring conscious or unconscious bitterness, perhaps for many years, over a hurt to oneself or loved ones, can affect all areas of our lives including our relationship with God and those around us and it can destroy our testimony. There is a deep need to forgive - but how do we forgive, what is forgiveness, how do we know we have forgiven, what and whom do we forgive? R T Kendall's book delves into these and many other related questions.Kendall's personal and deep experience involving forgiveness and his knowledge of Biblical teaching have resulted in a book which clearly yet comprehensively explains an astonishingly broad and complex subject - one of the most difficult but vital issues that a Christian must face. The reader can relate to what Kendall says because it is not simply theoretical, he draws on his own experiences. God's requirements and His solutions are challenging in part but can be profoundly uplifting, bringing about a sense of great peace and spiritual enrichment.'Life-changing' is an overused cliche, but for me this book was instrumental in helping me to successfully tackle a subject in a way which was exactly that - life-changing. A superb book and one that should be read by everybody, Christian or not.
5.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading for those who seeks answers to human suffering and injustice.
"Total Forgiveness" by RT.Kendall is now established as a Classic on the subject of Forgiveness. Essential reading for anyone struggling with feelings of past guilt and shame, and a very important resource for those who provide counselling and pastoral support for those who feel trapped by feelings of regret and guilt. The book covers the themes of "Forgiving Others", "Forgiving Ourselves" and "Forgiving God".R. T.Kendal has been accused by critics of theological heresy because of his suggestion that God needs to be forgiven. However, R. T.Kendall is addressing the strong FEELINGS that many people have including Bible characters who have asked the question. "Why?!" amidst dreadful suffering , as they struggle with God's apparent injustice and tolerance of evil. His conclusion is Biblical, sound, and very helpful. He demonstrates clearly from the Old Testament book of Habbakuk and the life of Joseph and Job , that these are commentaries that explain and verify the claim of the Apostle Paul in Romans 8v28, that "God works all things together for good, to them that love God, who are the called according to His purpose".
4.0 out of 5 stars Spiritually Enlightening
I have certainly found this book spiritually enlightening. Kendall mentions with forgiveness we can 'be set free' and it must 'take place in the heart otherwise it is worthless'. He believes to 'never punish' and 'never get even' when we are faced with criticism. It is important to forgive ourselves as well as others.I will mention Kendall does make many references to the Bible and mentions the words 'God' and 'Jesus' a lot. I would say this book would likely be of more appeal to you if you follow Christianity.
5.0 out of 5 stars Challenge beyond measure
This book is one of the most challenging I have read but if you have lost the peace of God through unforgiveness it is a must read - not once but again and again until you can put the things he suggests into practice. God bless you as you work through your bitterness to a reconciliation with God.
5.0 out of 5 stars Let it go - bitterness isn't worth it!
This book has been a valuable find. One of the lessons I have learnt is that forgiveness isn't always something you just do once, and that's it. As the tiresome old thoughts and arguments come back into the mind, one has to remind oneself and let it go all over again. The author describes it as a "life-long commitment", although I hope it won't be that in my case!In the Bible it says "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord". The trouble is that we don't trust God to deal with the other party as we would like, and feel we need to do the job ourselves. The author argues strongly that we need to forgive totally, otherwise we risk losing the blessings and sense of peace that God wants for us.I would warmly recommend this book to anyone who is struggling to forgive and let go.
5.0 out of 5 stars Total Forgiveness is Peace
R.T.Kendall goes through the process of total forgiveness extremely well and explains each step in detail with many references to the Bible which confirm and strengthen the argument R.T.Kendall makes for total forgiveness. Many times the author might sound like he is repeating himself but this is necessary as he leads you through yet another aspect of forgiveness.Reading this book will lead to greater peace within yourself and a greater connection with the Holy Spirit within us. It is all here explained relatively easily although some parts might be difficult and uncomfortable for some to achieve but in the end total forgiveness is well worth it.

Five Stars
Great book from one of my favourite writers.Shows again God's unending, undeserved love for his children.
Turned me inside out.
What an amazing book. I really chewed through it and it gave me much clarity. I fully understood the notion of forgiving because by the measure I judge so shall I be judged and by the measure I forgive so shall I be forgiven. Faced with my own imperfections and need for forgiveness really brought light to me needing to consider all sides of those I battled to forgive. The book has been - a very supernatural journey for me. Thank-you
