About the Author

Claire Ireland makes hand-built sculptural ceramics on different scales, many of which are inspired by her studio’s location in the grounds of a historical steam museum. She teaches contemporary ways of making and experimental decorative techniques, as well as specialist courses on smoke firing and paperclay. Claire is a professional member of the Craft Potters Association and the Society of Designer Craftsmen.

This book is written with detailed but clear sections on experimental techniques for the more adventurous potter. I can’t put it down, it is so fascinating. It has expanded my potting knowledge and revolutionised the way l work on my pots. There are so many new things l now want to try. I only wish there were more hours in the day.

Love this book. I have been involved in pottery and ceramics as a practitioner for 20 years and can honestly seen nothing like this elsewhere. Colourful and well set out there is a good balance between text / descriptions andGreat examples of all the decorative possibilities and great use of Artists working methods and techniques. This book gives insight into the synthesis of artistic & designs process from drawings, prints / paintings to the clay surface and ceramic transformation.This book provides plenty ideas for those at the start of their ceramics journey and for practicing ceramicists alike.
