About the Author
Annie Barrows has written many books for adults, but Ivy and Bean is her first series for kids. She lives in Northern California with her husband and two daughters. Sophie Blackall is an Australian illustrator whose previous books include Ruby's Wish and Meet Wild Boars. She lives in New York.

My 6 year old daughter loves these books! The text is very American (terms like "dork" and "goony" are used a lot) but that doesn't take away from her enjoyment of them. She gets a little cheeky glint in her eye when Ivy or Bean are doing something naughty. We read them together so that we can discuss what is right and wrong about Ivy and Bean's behaviour, but my daughter is able to read a lot of the text herself.Just a word of caution, the girls in the book do some naughty things, for example in book 1 they throw worms at Bean's big sister Nancy. So I wouldn't recommend these for a child who might be influenced to try some of these things herself! But for a child who can tell the difference between right and wrong, they are a great read - very funny and definitely a page-turner. My daughter keeps wanting to know what they get up to next, and this love of books and reading is invaluable.The box set contains 3 reading books and a false one with a secret compartment. Great fun!

These books are really fun. Even I enjoyed the stories. Yes they are a bit “naughty” in parts but thats what makes them fun to read for young ones and keeps their interest (they are no where near as bad as Horrid Henry!) My 7 y.o. has never really enjoyed reading and I struggled to get her interested so I needed something to encourage her. These books did exactly that. She would appear with book in hand asking to read to me. She even took to sitting and reading to her self. Amazing.

My daughter loves these books. She is a strong reader. Started reading Enid Blyton magic tree/enchanted wood series at 6(now 7). Ivy and Bean series is not as challenging so good for age 6 upwards for any type of reader. An ‘easy read’ series. She finds them funny. Will be buying the next box set very soon to have at the ready!

Just received these today, but my daughter (who is a skilled but reluctant reader, age 7.5) is enjoying them a lot. She read beyond her half-hour minimum today, which is rare. It's 'early days,' but very pleased with them so far.
Great beginner chapter books
I bought this set for my 6 year old that just started reading this past school year, and she loved them! They were really fun to read even though there were a lot of words on each page. My daughter loved them so much that I bought her the next two sets and she is currently reading book 6! She hasn't watched the Netflix show yet, but I want her to finish the first 9 books first. Let her keep her imagination a little while longer.

Great books
We purchased these books for Christmas for our daughters, and they are absolutely hilarious! There is swearing, but I think kids say worse in real life. If they get my kids to read in their spare time it's a win!

Just simply great
My daughter (7 years old) could not put it down. This is her first proper book (not short stories etc) and she enjoys a lot. The font size is appropriate and the distance between lines. The story is good. She finally really enjoys reading
