About the Author

The Revd Dr John Stott, CBE, was for many years Rector of All Souls Church, Langham Place, London. He was chaplain to the Queen. Stott's global influence is well established, mainly through his work with Billy Graham and the Lausanne conferences - he was one of the principal authors of the Lausanne Covenant in 1974 - through his founding of Langham Partnership International and through his prolific writings, which have been translated into more than 60 languages and have sold more than 8 million copies. In 2005, Time magazine ranked Stott among the 100 most influential people in the world. He passed away on July 27, 2011.

Every day a new part of the Bible is exposed and explained. Showing the prophesies of the Old Testament and the realities of being a Christian in the New Testament section.The culmination is from the book of Revelations, where everything is shown to us in St John’s description of his visions of Jesus Christ in the company of His Father in Heaven plus the promises of the new world which will come to all true Christians on the day of Judgement.We were left in no doubt as to how we are to behave to be true Christians and follow Jesus Christ without any hesitation or deviation.A truly amazing insight into the Bible in its entirety in easy to read and assimilate sections.Wonderful !!

I began this devotional at the start of the pandemic and found it massively useful. I’ve tried reading through the Bible in a year before, and whilst a useful practice for many, I found it has constrained me to read quickly and not absorb it. However, this devotional picks and chooses short passages from the whole sweep of the Bible from genesis to revelation to focus on - some books have more devoted readings than others - but the devotionals are helpful and insightful and are short enough to allow you to spend time reading more than the suggested reading, as you feel led. I found it a useful companion to reading through the Bible which didn’t take the joy away from it, and gave me a helpful big picture of the Bible as it followed its natural progression.

As a non-conformist on principle I am not one who slavishly follows the church calendar. These daily readings do so the format took a little getting used to. John Stott's short comments are readable and succinct, a lovely aid to regular bible reading. Mr Stott was a heavy-weight theologian but this book is far from heavy going. It is, however, more substantial than many bible reading notes but theologically accurate and pastoral in tone.

This book is not exactly what I thought it would be--it is better. I was expecting a Bible reading plan that began on the first day of January with Genesis 1:1 and would conclude on New Years Eve with Revelation 22:21. While providing reflections and devotions for each day of the year, this book provides a refreshing seasonal reading plan. From September until Christmas this book takes the reader on a journey through the Old Testament from the story of creation until the coming of Jesus the promised messiah. From January through April the reader re-discovers the life of Christ through reading and reflecting upon the Gospels. In the months of May through August the reader re-lives the exciting and challenging history of the first Christ-followers as documented in the book of Acts and then continues to read through the rest of the New Testament. This book is written in such an accommodating manner that you can begin reading it at any time during the year (not just in the month of September). Just look up the appropriate day of the year in the book (remember the week numbers in the book begin with the first week in September as Week 1) and begin reading. I have recommended this book to all of my family and friends who visit my website at andrewduarte.com and I recommend it to you as well. You will find yourself drawn closer to God, experiencing a greater understanding of His Word, and encouraged in the faith as you read this book.

This is great if you want to study a little bit of the bible every evening.The themes are captivating and it will take you 5-10 minutes on each of them. Great to do as a couple.
