5.0 out of 5 stars PI Mad
After getting involved with Raspberry Pi and I'm now mad on anything Pi related. The format of these books just suits me fine. Will buy more in the New Year.
4.0 out of 5 stars The bible for Pi
A good read for. Pi users
5.0 out of 5 stars Concise and informative.
Just what I've come to expect from the 'for dummies' books. Aimed at newbies like me but useful for more experienced users too.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent text for beginners, up to date with Pi 400
Excellent resource, up to date; can be followed as a "course" or used as reference text.Let down by one problem: low contrast B&W photos. These are usable for photos of hardware but render the Scratch software examples difficult, but not impossible, to read. Best to learn Scratch from official RPi book to gain familiarity first, as block colours important.Has useful 3rd party info on add-ons / adaptors; particularly good if using Pi 400 which is less accessible, in its keyboard case.Would recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful book for a beginner using the Pi.
This book is a great reference on the Raspberry Pi. Have dipped in and out of different chapters when Ive been looking for information. I would recommend it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent ground-up introduction to Raspberry Pi
Disclaimer: I received a free review copy, and my high-altitude balloon project is covered in the book.If you want to get familiar with your Raspberry Pi, and in particular if you want to learn how to program the device, then this is the best introduction that I've seen. It assumes very little prior knowledge, and will take you through controlling the computer through the graphical user interface, the command line, and into programming with Scratch and Python.I was particularly pleased to see that nearly a quarter of the book is dedicated to how to interface with electronic circuits, including vital information about how circuits work, and even how to solder. Electronics interfacing shouldn't be daunting, but some basic knowledge is needed to make it a success and to prevent destroying your Raspberry Pi by by connect the wrong pin to the wrong voltage. I see many people who understand how to switch on a GPIO pin from software, but have no idea about how to wire it, or what current it can safely supply, so it's great to see information like alongside how to program. Finally, the book contains chapters on several interesting add-ons for the Pi, and several projects to inspire the reader. Applications for the Raspberry Pi are pretty much limitless, and with this book anyone should be in a great position to build their own project.
I am cuurently using the info, thank you.
One of the good books I bought is this one, thank you.
Goed leesbaar
Niet te ingewikkeld, alles wat je moet weten om de raspberry te gebruiken.
Informative
Great for a newbie
leads you where you need to go
huge help to follow along this learning tool
Coding part too steep
The first half of the book gives a tour of the operating system and the programs you can install and some functionality explained within those programs. The second part writes some code but the learning curve is waaay too steep. A lot of code with little explanation. I’ve had to resort to a Udemy course and put the book down around page 344.
