5.0 out of 5 stars Essential READING
The book began with an overlooked 'truth': organisations invest enormous resources into the recruitment of people for key roles and (almost) abandon them to make their own way to success (or not) once they join.In many strategic appointments successful candidates have to provide several week/months notice to move out of their post before taking up the new role. This book provides sound advice on how to use that time thought fully and effectively. The time invested in developing your 'First 100 Days Plan' will enable you to be authentic, consistent and bring the team with you as your achieve organisational and personal goals. It also provides constructive advice on how to approach a new role that one hasn't applied for and doesn't want (it happens!).If you're an adrenaline junkie that doesn't like having a career plan; you're not even reading this. If however, you recognise "you're good" and are open to good advice/support where you see it - invest in yourself by reading this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, full of practical insights and tips
This is without doubt one of the best business books I've ever read. I highlighted so many parts of it, as it's full of really sensible and useful insights as well as easy to follow steps and actions to take when starting a new leadership role. So much value to be gained by reading this book! Highly recommend it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Author says 'speed read this book' I say 'don't bother and purchase something else'
I was really disappointed in this book. I had hoped for practical advice on starting a new job. What I received was a poorly produced and published book with content that was rushed, lots of waffle and graphics containing text that was illegible. The font size used for the main content is unusually large, I guess that's to fill the pages faster. The pages are printed on poor quality paper, it feels cheap and I don't like to hold and read a poor quality book. The cover design and background are basic, unimaginative and again poor quality. Even the spine isn't aligned centrally. I get the feeling the whole thing was produced in a rush. It just felt amateur. Sadly I gave up reading this as I realised the book didn't deliver what I wanted, and I looked elsewhere. I'm writing this not as a dig to the author, but because I was at an important stage in my life and really needed expert help, and this book let me down.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book
It had everything I wanted
Nice college graduation gift
Good common sense content
Great guide for launching successfully
This book offers great guidance for planning and prepping for the first 3 months of a new job. Organized and thoughtful. The first 3 months are critical to long term success and having a guidebook in the absence of a coach was extremely helpful!
