5.0 out of 5 stars Practical and readable, with a number of helpful tools
This book contains a host of case studies and tools to help leaders evaluate the strategic alignment of their companies and make changes where needed to re-align. I found it practical and readable. This updated version is well worth reading.
5.0 out of 5 stars Bang up to date and powerful.
Dr Trevor’s first book on this subject, ‘Align’, was transformational for me. Full of common sense practical advice that was easy to read and apply in the work place. But how the environment has changed since the publication of ‘Align’ in 2020 in ways no one could have predicted. In ‘Re:Align’, Dr Trevor brings us up to date with academic thinking, a number of very practical examples and, as always, a humorous turn of phrase that makes reading his work very easy and engaging.Sometimes the obvious is not so obvious when surrounded by day to day problems. Dr Trevor is experienced enough to know this and deals with it in a very practical and mature way.I highly recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars Engaging, well written and full of wisdom
There’s a ton of covid books coming out. This isn’t one of them. It brings fresh academic concepts to bear on business disruption in general and provides managers with the tools, insights and guidance necessary to do something about it. Its many examples bring the book’s key points to life and there are also numerous stories to chew on. And there is also a refreshing amount of humour. I read Align and Re:Align is even more a book fit for our age. A great read for business.
Re:Align is THE BOOK for the DIGITAL AGE
Strategy is concerned with relating a firm to its (COMPETITIVE) ENVIRONMENT in order to successfully meet long-term objectives. As both the business environment and individual firms are dynamic systems, constantly in flux, achieving a STRATEGIC FIT between the two is an ongoing challenge. For a strategy to be successful, it must be consistent with the firm's external environment and with its internal environment, its goals and values, resources and capabilities and structure and systems. Therefore it's necessary that business leaders are continuously looking for new ways to align the current, and potential, strength and weaknesses of the organization with the current, and potential, opportunities and threats in the environment.Re:Align is THE BOOK for the DIGITAL AGEDigital disruption is not caused by a single digital technology, e.g. Cloud Computing, it's the confluence of digital technologies compounded by the steady arrival of other powerful digital technologies. This expanding array of digital technologies offers companies almost unlimited opportunities to enhance their value proposition.Digital Transformation is about the ability of organizations, its leaders and employees to adapt continously to rapid changes wrought by evolving digital technologies. To be successful a continuous strategic realignment is a must and must become a core competency.Prof. Jonathan Trevor provides with his book Re:Align a blueprint for strategic realignment. The book provides practical case studies, evidence-based insights and a large number of figures, which makes the book a joy to read. The book provides an effective toolkit to overcome disruption and helps to establishmultiple layers of competitive advantage, including Cost Efficiency, Differentiation, Innovation, Responsiveness and Adaptability.Prof. Trevor provides also the corresponding course “Oxford Organisational Effectiveness Programme” provided by the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford in cooperation with getsmarter.com. I can highly recommend this course.
