About this item:
Illustrated fiction is still having something of a boom, but if you're looking for a non-white protagonist it's slim pickings indeed. Happily Sam Wu is about to change all that. A hero of Asian heritage with a diverse set of friends . . . it's enormous fun, madcap and relatable.', Bookseller

5.0 out of 5 stars Sam Wu's funniest adventure so far
Sam Wu is back in what for me is his funniest adventure yet! Sam’s arch nemesis and kind of friend Ralph Zinkerman the Third is being kept awake by loud howling from his basement, convinced that there are zombie werewolves locked down there he reluctantly seeks Sam’s help. We al know that Sam Wu is not afraid of anything, together they must formulate a plan that Spaceman Jack would be proud of! Wonderfully chaotic and packed full of hilarious humour and downright genius illustrations this book is an absolute triumph from start to finish. Katie and Kevin totally get childhood dynamics, from the fast flowing dialogue to the vivid imaginations, it’s so well observed and witty. As usual Nathan’s illustrations are full of joy capturing the chaos and carnage unfold brilliantly. This continues to be one of my favourite young fiction series and is hugely popular at school.
4.0 out of 5 stars A brilliant addition to the series: a whole lot of fun!
Another brilliantly fun book in the Sam Wu series. These books never fail to make me smile! Sam and his gang have to work together to overcome their meanest opposition yet: scary zombies. I loved the plans they came up with! Plus, as ever, the illustrations make me so bloody happy!
5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliantly funny tale of childhood fears and misunderstandings!!
My 6 year old is a HUGE fan of Sam Wu. She has been enjoying the books and giggling away at his wobbly adventures of misunderstandings and childlike imagination as Sam insists he is not scared when really he is terrified of most things. This time Ralph ASKS SAM for HELP!?Ok Regina maaaay have had something to do with that as they havent slept in weeks as they suspect a zombie werewolf is trapped in their basement. Sam is terrified but summons up the courage with his friends to investigate the truth… although unfortunately it all goes TERRIBLY and hysterically wrong.Nathan Reed’s playful illustrations capture both the imagination and awkwardness of being the age of Sam and his friends and Katie & Kevin touch on social worries such as being embarrassed by your family’s differences in a beautifully empathetic yet uplifting way.

My 7 year old loves this series - page turner
