When this first book arrived it was my favourite and soon to be my sons. The illustrations are clear and effective for my 2 year old to understand as well as being entertaining. The story line is amusing and very original. Have yet to find a book to compare. After reading it every night for the past few months we now love to copy all the actions along with the book. The tickling, pulling funny faces, 'dizzy dance'. I have subsequently purchased this book as a gift for a friend who also said that it has become their daughters favourite book as well.

A lovely and funny book. Ben receives a penguin which won't play or talk to him. Ben tries everything to get penguin to talk, but when nothing works he decides to feed penguin to a passing lion. However, lion doesn't want to eat penguin and eats Ben instead for being too noisy! Luckily penguin saves the day.My child is 18 months and loves this book. It mimics a child's frustration and is well illustrated. A definite recommendation.

Love this. My son has enjoyed Penguin from the age of about 6 months. Adults will like the story (not too inane, as many baby books can be) and the illustrations are lovely - same artist as the "Tilly & Friends" books (which is now a cartoon on CBeebies).Gentle, lovely but with enough wit to be enjoyable to readers of all ages!

My 2YO likes to pretend to be Ben (pulling faces, dizzy dance etc)and joins in with the 'penguin said nothing'. Bit short but nice illustrations.

We love this story! The illustrations make me laugh out loud and my daughter loves seeing the lion (I won't spoil the story for you). The DVD is a welcome addition, buy the book with the DVD as its a great support to the book. Emilia fox narrates it beautifully and it's only short so my little one watches the whole thing. Buy it!

This book was purchased for my grandchildren who are ages 3 and 5. They loved the story from the first time it was read to them and now they read it to me. Took them to the stage show of the book earlier this month and they got to meet the characters afterwards which really bought the story to life.

Es un libro estupendo, poco texto en ingles pero acompañado por bonitos dibujos. A nuestra hija de casi cuatro años le gusta mucho y se ha aprendido frases enteras. Es una buena forma de que los mas pequeños aprendan ingles si le pones un poco de expresividad al leerlo.El tema de la amistad y de saber respetar los tiempos de cada uno tambien es un valor a tener en cuenta en este libro.

A must
Lovely and tender book for toddlers. My 2 years old son loves it and we imitate the different moments of the story. Beautifully written, the pictures are very sweet and the penguin is to fall for! Also, good to show kids not to shout ;)
No-nonsense nonsense story ...
... with no weighty morals. This funny story, nicely narrated by Emilia Fox, extends junior vocabulary well.No good for parents who believe 3 year olds cannot distinguish between fichtion and reality, though.
