These 10 books make up half of the No 1 Ladies Detective series. I had been reading them from the library but they are very addictive and this economical set enables binge reading!First of all the set itself was well-packaged and in excellent condition. The books are even packed in chronological order although the next title is printed in the back of each one so you can’t go out of sequence.More importantly the stories are well-written, keep the reader’s interest and have lots of ingredients - excellent plots resolved with common sense and compassion by the main protagonist; realistic interactions between the characters which are sympathetic, thought-provoking, amusing and sometimes sinister; the thoughts and musings of the people involved, insights into life in Botswana and perhaps best of all, the intriguing way that the author can so accurately get inside the very different heads of women primarily and men too.This series really makes me want to visit Botswana and have a long chat with Mma Ramotswe over a cup of bush tea.

Heart-warming and charming
This series is the perfect antidote to the hate-filled world that we sometimes seem to be living in. It's charming, sweet as pie and sometimes deliciously funny, and features characters who are just downright decent people (along with some villains). Precious Ramotswe, the lady detective, is nothing short of adorable as she navigates her way through cases and life in general, aided by her assistant Grace Makotsi and her eventually-husband, the wonderful Mr J.L.B. Matekoni. The books in this series are consistently entertaining - my wife and I both devoured them, and loved every one - and they'll leave you with a smile on your face and a warmth in your heart.
