May I say, I’m honoured to have been asked to recreate Beatrix Potter’s animals in yarn, and only hope I’ve done justice to the colours and general feel and style of her illustrated creatures.

I, like many others of my generation and many others in post and previous generations, have grown up with Beatrix Potter books by my bedside. Her Peter Rabbit and all her fabulous characters have truly played a very big part in my childhood imagination more than any other author, and without doubt are the reason I have been inspired to make and invent characters of my own.

She has been, is, and will be, a huge influence to all creatives like myself, now and forever.

If you love Beatrix Potter you’ll love everything about this book. It’s full of wonderful patterns designed by Claire Garland, so we’ll written and explained. There are lists of the yarn amounts and so much information to create the wonderful characters. The book has also got wonderful illustrations and quotes from the Beatrix Potter books. This book could easily become an heirloom as I know it will i our family. An absolute delight which I can’t wait to share with friends and family.

I'm not sure why some people had said that as experienced knitters they had struggled with this book. I'm a fairly experienced knitter and haven't found anything that I haven't understood or been able to do. My advice to less experienced knitters would be to perhaps try the patterns using slightly larger needles and perhaps DK wool as this will make things a little less fiddly and help you understand and easily see the stitches you need to be doing. Once you feel more confident you can use the smaller needles and lighter yarn. The results are wonderful and I would highly recommend this lovely book.

I can’t wait to start knitting these characters! The book is beautifully done! The instructions are clear and concise and I can’t wait to get started. I’ve heard hints about a grandbaby! Both of my daughters had the set of Beatrix Potter books and we read them over and over. Never too old to see those beloved creatures come to life!

The making up diagrams are a bit hard to understand and could be clearer. Some of the diagrams referred to don’t match the animal you are working on in particular, Rabbits ears are bats ears in figure 10. It takes a bit of time to work them out.It is beautifully illustrated and would make a lovely gift.
