Eat Your Vitamins: Your Guide to Using Natural Foods to Get the Vitamins, Minerals, and Nutrients Your Body Needs

Description:

About this item:

Vitamins and minerals are the building blocks of good health. But the heavily processed foods that are so common in today’s modern diet are stripped of these nutrients, leaving many people nutrient deficient despite meeting (or exceeding) their daily calorie needs. The accepted solution is to take supplements created in a lab, but the dosage and interactions can be confusing, and supplements are loosely regulated and not always foolproof, especially since our bodies are designed to receive nutrients from natural, whole foods.

Eat Your Vitamins features fifty key vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients essential to your health. You will find clear definitions of each nutrient along with the role it plays in the body, how it is best consumed and absorbed, recommended daily doses, and detailed lists of foods and natural sources that contain the vitamin along with a recipe for a nutrient-rich meal. Ditch the synthetic supplements and make the right choice about how to properly feed and fuel your body.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect reference book

This is exactly what I was looking for. All the main vitamins and minerals, with details of why we need them, how much we need, how to get them, and what other foods helps or hinders absorbtion. Eco-friendly book too, with plain paper and matt card, and no pointless images wasting paper and adding weight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little reference book

Love the format, easy to read and informative. Practical info on both the nutrients & their benefits and where to find them in natural food sources rather than pre-packaged supplements.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get to know your vitamins

I have been into healthy eating for a number of years and have done so many diets diet plans eating ways you name it I've tried it over the years. I wanted to get back to basics and remember we eat for nutrition and start looking after my body rather than worrying about my weight. I'm about a third of the way into this book and I'm so far really enjoying it. The descriptions of the vitamins are easy to understand and I love the recipes that they provide with each vitamin. It's really made me think outside the box again rather than getting bored of food. I recently made lamb chops with quinoa and lemon dressing with broccoli. This is not one of the recipes in the book but my point being that it gets you thinking and remembering what food is and why we eat it.The recipes in the book are are easy to follow and fairly basic. The book literally takes you from vitamin A to vitamin Z being sleep. I'm thoroughly enjoying this book and would recommend it to anybody wanting to to either refresh their memory or wanting to learn about nutrient-dense food.

DESCRIPCIÓN DE VITAMINAS Y MINERALES PERO...CON MUY POCOS ALIMENTOS, Y FALTA DE INFORMACIÓN.

R.V. · 23 April 2023

MUCHAS GRACIAS.

A ton of nutritional info in an easy to read format along with great recipes

This is the only book I have been able to find that is comprehensive but isn’t also a textbook. I found it full of interesting facts and useful information about each vitamin, mineral and nutrient out there. It's very approachable and easy to understand for the lay person.I’m not a dietitian or nutritionist or even a food nerd. I just like to arm myself with info. The nice thing is the book is designed in chapters so you can easily look up a particular vitamin or mineral easily. The recipes at the end of every single nutrient and vitamin section are relatively easy and great ways to incorporate the info in my diet. And there is a good variety of recipes as well. They are all straightforward and don't require you to be a chef. The avocado chocolate mouse is creative and delicious, for example, but only took 10 minutes to prepare!I also liked how the author included ‘Vitamin Z’ for sleep at the end of the book. Of course, you can eat healthy but if you don’t get enough sleep, you don’t get the full benefit of the nutrients you are eating. You can tell the author put a lot of research and thought into this book and it's well written, laid out and full of recent updates. I feel like I have some clarity now amidst all of the conflicting nutrition information out there. It’s a great resource and I highly recommend. My only ding on the book would be I wish there was more personalized stories and anecdotes about vitamins and minerals but otherwise a great resource for those who want to arm themselves with solid information about nutrition.

Accurate booking on vitamin rich food

s.a. · 6 July 2023

I thought the book, had been researched really well and was easy to read. It contained good information on foods to consume rich in various vitamins and minerals. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was a lot of the food suggestions were more animal based and not as many non animal foods were listed.

Great book to learn and natural vitamins

S.K. · 7 March 2024

This book is absolutely amazing. It explains things so simply and also explains the dangers of over consuming certain vitamins with the use of supplements versus just eating the whole food and getting it from the source and how it's almost impossible to over consume vitamins from the whole source.
