These techniques may seem gentle, but the results are life-changing because the plan is tailored to you, and they can work for everything from alcohol addiction to procrastination to weight loss. By using the same techniques that she has used to help substance addicts recover from dependence, you too will find that you have the power to change – for good.

'A powerful way to break even the most stubborn bad habit so you can live the life you deserve.' Steven Bartlett, The Diary of a CEO

The moment I met her I immediately knew she was the real deal. She just gets it. She's a sobering, safe and sassy presence in a world of extremes. --
Bryony Gordon, #1 bestselling author of Mad Girl

Shahroo's dynamic and compassionate approach to an entrenched and sometimes scary drinking culture is refreshing, non-judgmental and feels like a very contemporary approach to talking about alcohol. --
Gemma Cairney, BBC Radio 1 presenter and author of Open: A Toolkit for How Magic and Messed Up Life Can Be

Aside from my own experience of Shahroo's superb work, the greatest testament is that our clients keep requesting more and more of her invaluable experience, insights and strategies to successfully manage their emotional wellbeing. --
Dominic Ruffy, Amy Winehouse Foundation

That's what Shahroo does. Gets me to ask fundamental questions with a kindness and compassion I normally reserve for others. --
Marisa Bate, The Pool

This book is wonderful. Kindness is king. Kindness is key. --
Eoin Colfer, bestselling author of the Artemis Fowl series

A game-changing book about habits and beliefs that focuses on boosting our self-esteem and resilience, rather than demonising ourselves or our behaviours. And we can use it to change any unwanted behaviour, from struggling with prescription drugs to procrastinating to drinking too much prosecco. --

5.0 out of 5 stars Life changing! I’ve lost 4 stones in 8 months effortlessly!

S.M. · 10 December 2023

Thank you to Shahroo for changing my life. I’ve had a binge eating disorder all my life. Whenever I felt low or stressed, I had a habit to drive to the nearest co-op or Tesco and buy so many packets of chocolates and biscuits and finish them all in one sitting. It was a binge eating disorder which I never called a binge eating disorder. Shahroo’s books have changed my life. I did all the mental exercises she recommended and it was completely unknown to me that what I’ve actually been saying to myself (my self talk/thoughts) were actually the words that my older brother used to say to me as he used to bully me quite badly growing up, and he still does at any chance he can get. Once I realised that my self talk weren’t even my own words and at the age of 33 I would never take any life advice from my older brother as he’s quite toxic and terrible at keeping any relationship and has a lot of bad lifestyle habits, I was able to let go of that self talk as the origin of those thoughts weren’t even my own words. And since then I’ve lost 4stones effortlessly in 8 months. I can even keep chocolates in my house and I no longer feel powerless over it and think that I have to eat it as I have no self control. Everything has changed.I never ever thought I’d achieve this, that after having two children I’d be the same Jean size as I was at 17yo at the age of 33! And achieving this has opened my eyes to so many possible achievements I could achieve, including getting out of my own comfort zone and starting my own business and being a creator too to promote my business.Thank you Shahroo, you’ve changed my life and I wish you every single success in the world. I highly highly highly recommend this book and The Kindness Method.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book I Have Ever Read

An absolutely brilliant book. I have had this book just over a month and it has taken me a while to write an adequate review. Shahroo’s work makes you want to read, think and marinate and then come back to it. She takes you on a journey of self discovery, where you discover self love and are able to identify all the negative things and addictive behaviours in your life. Her writing style is so engaging and she is able to convey such important information in an easy to read and compassionate way. I have a few of her books and would rate all of them 10/10. Highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Such practical steps to make lasting changes

M.L. · 24 August 2023

I gave up drinking over 5 years ago. At the time, I made a list of all the negative effects and the positive outcomes from giving up alcohol. I read it every time I wanted a drink and I kept away from social events until I felt ready to say no. Recently I have been very tempted to start drinking again. As the memories of hangovers and bad behaviour fade. It's been hard to keep the foundations strong. There's a voice in my head telling me that I can drink now that I have it under control. But I know that is the addiction talking. I am looking forward to doing the exercises to strengthen my resolve and resilience. My life is so different 5 years sober its 1000% better. I encourage anyone to read this book and try being sober for 30 days. Every sphere of your life will improve!

Very informative and great read, one you can pick up and just read a page or two and it will lift you

5.0 out of 5 stars Accessible, practical and transformative

S. · 9 February 2023

If you have an issue that you are struggling with or feel so stuck in your life and your habits that you can't see a way out, then read this book. In the most understanding, warm, empathetic way, Shahroo Izadi guides you on a journey where you are able to rediscover all of the lovely things about you, acknowledge all of the things that are holding you back and navigate the changes that you would like to make. The mind map exercises are easy, achievable and are startlingly eye opening. This book is practical, accessible, completely non woo-woo (hurrah), and offers so many ideas I feel I can keep working with after the book has ended. Loved it (and I like myself quite a bit more having read it).

3.0 out of 5 stars Great content - but avoid this edition

S. · 5 October 2023

Excellent content - but avoid this edition and buy the earlier one with the dot-pattern cover even if you need to get it second-hand. This one is a small cheap paperback edition with a very tight spine that means you can't lay the book flat side by side with a notebook while doing the exercises, which is essential. The earlier edition is much more generously proportioned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Changing Your Life, But It Sticks. Really!

B. · 21 May 2020

As the world goes through this awful time, I think the thing we could all use a bit more is Kindness. And luckily, Shahroo has shared this amazing book that's full of it!I don't know about you, but I've spent my life thinking "Why can't I change?" "Why won't it stick?" "Why am I like this?". Basically beating myself up for every tiny mistake, taking a step forward and stumbling and then beating myself up until I take 5 steps back. I didn't know what was happening - and then I read this book. It's completely changed my outlook. Now I know how not to let stumbles derail me - I'm achieving things I had never achieved for years, simply because I'm not stopping myself. The book is a journey - a step by step guide to creating your own guide. You can use it again and again, I've done each exercise in a separate journal so I can reuse the book. It takes you on a journey but it's not a chore, it's a pleasure. Shahroo's writing is like a friend, she writes with such kindness and compassion that you feel confidence in yourself growing. It's not the traditional self help books of old telling you you're wrong - it's a new approach, guiding you on to the right path.I strongly recommend this book, as someone who had never read a self help book before - It changed my life.

Surprise yourself !

J.L. · 10 March 2023

This book is unlike any other self-help book. It’s an authentic description of a journey by an authentic therapist. When I started reading the book, I discovered that even if I wasn’t reading it to change a behavior, it was still very interesting to understand how aan addiction therapist thinks and works. I did decide to follow through and apply the ideas of this book to address my own addictive behaviors. It has been a pleasure to read every word, and to fill in a map after every chapter while contemplating the master plan of how to be happier, healthier and more efficient without succumbing to old compulsive states of mind. Thank you Shahroo Izadi

We all need to have this book

l.r. · 8 August 2023

The media could not be loaded. From the beginning I’d notice this book will be excellent for not only addiction but for general personal growth. Each chapter is interesting, is work (mind maps, exercises…) but entertaining and if you really value you thriving as a person you will try the kindness method. I don’t know why there are not more references (perhaps the majority are not interested) in it. This book is helping my clients and myself as well. Is a kind method for me because you’ll constantly feel how the author is empathic, helping us with love through the journey of kind changes toward our goals.

Fab book

Really Great

m.m. · 9 February 2024

I thought I knew what to expect. Looking back I have seen that although it had not been a perfect journey i have made progress in some of my eating goals. It's been weeks since I started the book and I'm hopeful i will continue to make lasting changes.

Ein Muss, wenn man sich endlich verändern möchte
