5.0 out of 5 stars Clear, concise, informative and personally challenging
I have worked in this field for over 25 years, changing lanes along the way once or twice. I have read a LOT of books over the course of those years and never once felt compelled to leave a review. If you are embarking on any kind of caring profession.... this book is a must. Easy to read, straight, mildly challenging without being confrontational, informative (just enough) and just downright on the mark.I have encouraged my teenage boys to read this...and I do believe in todays confusing society with terms and boxes and social media and derogatory approches to diffference. Its a wee light in the dark. Bravo!
5.0 out of 5 stars well-written & relevent
Well-researched and easy to digest. Very appropriate given the current conversation about race. Encourages the profession to consider its own historical & instutional racism. Explains race as a social construct and discusses modern racism. Excellent on disability & gender. Also examines other forms of oppression & resistance. Full of detailed case-histories and excercise for individuals or groups. Essential reading for any counselling professional

This is a Fantastic book!! Very informative, introduces definitions that are easily to understand. Real life case studies used for added context. The reference lode is extensive if you're interested in further reading on a particular chapter. A must for training reading lists!! :DGreat for a trainee therapist who is interested in practising, holding people's differences in mind!
