5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant as always, despite the lack of glitter
We love the What the Ladybird Heard series so were eagerly anticipating the release of this latest Christmassy themed one.The story itself is utterly brilliant, probably my second favourite after the original itself. It's familiar, humorous and set on Christmas Eve. What's not to love? The only drawback, as highlighted by other reviews, is that unfortunately the book does not contain the usual glitter, which most fans of the series are use to. I was sadly expecting this, as I'd noticed that the previous books have all been re-released over the past couple of years without glitter. In fact, I believe the previous release (What the Ladybird Heard at the Seaside) only ever contained glitter in the hardback version. By the time it was released in paperback, they seemed to have done away with the famous glittery ladybird which helped to make this series so popular. I can only assume this is a cost cutting decision, as I really can't think why else such a decision would have been made when the glitter was such a popular element of this series (and all of Donaldson and Monk's other past collaborations).I am still giving it 5 stars, as the story itself is excellent and I'm sure it will still be thoroughly enjoyed by the 3-7 age group. However, toddlers who were previously drawn in by the glittery textures may sadly be less interested now until they're old enough to appreciate the actual storyline.I would still highly recommend this book as, at the end of the day, high-quality literature will always trump glittery gimmicks, as disappointing as the absence of glitter might be to some.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great choice for any Ladybird Heard fans
My 3 year old son has become somewhat fascinated with these books and Lanky Len and Hefty Hugh. We had to buy this book to add to our collection and he absolutely loves it 🙂Definitely recommend

5.0 out of 5 stars Great kids book
4 year old daughter loved reading this with me. Good Christmas story.
4.0 out of 5 stars Another great story but some text hard to read
We love these books, but I wish publishers wouldn’t put black text on dark colour backgrounds. We read to our kids at bedtime with low light (lamps) and some of the pages are really hard to read because of black text on dark backgrounds.
5.0 out of 5 stars Really lovely book
Put way for Christmas but after browsing it myself I know it will go down well

Fun cute book
Love this book
Mis alumnos adoran a los patos Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len.
super
bellissima storia in rima, i bambini hanno subito voluto rileggerla
Festive Fun for Little Readers

The story follows the adventures of the Ladybird and her farm animal friends as they thwart a Christmas present-stealing plot. Julia Donaldson's signature rhymes make the story engaging and fun to read aloud, capturing the attention of young readers. The illustrations are vibrant and full of festive charm, adding to the magic of the story. It's a wonderful tale of teamwork, cleverness, and the joy of Christmas. My children loved following along with the Ladybird's adventures, and it has become a favorite bedtime story during the holiday season.I highly recommend "What the Ladybird Heard at Christmas" to parents and caregivers looking for a heartwarming and entertaining Christmas story for young readers.
