5.0 out of 5 stars The truth will always out
I devoured Everyone Here Is Lying in a single day—it had me absolutely hooked from the start! Despite being written in the third person (which I don’t usually love), the writing style pulls you right into the minds of each character. You can almost feel the weight of their secrets, the tension building as they try to keep them hidden, and the looming fear that everything will unravel. The plot kicks off with the disappearance of a curious young girl, and before long, the neighbourhood turns into an episode of Desperate Housewives. You've got the father, who's definitely hiding something, the mother, who's definitely hiding something and the neighbours... who are definitely hiding something.Every time you think you've cracked the mystery, the story twists again, leaving you scratching your head in the best way possible. The ending is just perfect. Without giving it all away, I never saw it coming, and I'm glad that the truth found its way out, as it invariably does.If you're a fan of gripping mysteries, endless intrigue, and the kind of drama that makes you feel relieved that your life is boring, this is the perfect read.
4.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced and addictive
Brilliant novel, so hard to put down due to the sheer amount of things happening constantly. Well developed characters and loads of twists and turns. The only reason it’s not 5* is because of the very abrupt ending. Hate when you’re reading on kindle and it says 10 mins left of book but then you turn the page and it’s done and the 10 mins is just extracts of the author’s other books.
3.0 out of 5 stars Suspension of disbelief pushed just a bit too far
The story is gripping enough to begin with, and does have you suspecting everyone and keen to learn more. Unfortunately, by the second half of the book, I found one character in particular just completely unbelievable and it really brought me out of the story. On top of this were certain character interactions that just didn’t seem to fit; e.g. characters ‘bursting into tears’ with too little build up. The ending was also abrupt, and again involved a character acting towards someone in a way that would never really happen in real life. Worth a read, but don’t go in with masses of expectation.

A great book. Totally unexpected ending. Books like this you never want to end
4.0 out of 5 stars Engaging
This book kept me turning the pages throughout yet it wasn’t really the most exciting story. I think the way Lapena writes is very engaging and easy to read. It’s not my favourite Lapena novel but I did still enjoy it especially the character of Avery. My plan is to read all her books.
5.0 out of 5 stars The One-Sit Read is BACK!
Avery's father has a hair-trigger temper. The outwardly respectable doctor isn't who he seems to be. After his extra-marital affair ends, he lashes out at his daughter, knocking her to the ground. And hours later - she's reported missing. The theme of nobody is who they appear to be on the surface, is one the author is adept at weaving through her narratives. And which of course, keep you guessing right until the end. Suspicion around the missing girl's disappearance doesn't just end with her father - before we know it there's a list of prime suspects which encompass most of the so-called 'repectable' residents of this middle class neighbourhood. But just who is telling the truth? And are they what they appear to be?I do read a lot of mysteries and am fairly adept at spotting foreshadowing or figuring just whodunnit and why early on. So, this author never disappoints as her clever construction and plotting mean it's always a big twisty reveal that I didn't see coming. And this is no exception. I read in one sitting on a flight but would have devoured in an evening if at home. Pretty unputdownable once started. And if you have ever read actual studies of psychopaths by FBI profilers, this makes for an even more scary and compelling story. Highly recommend.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good read
Aged 9 Avery is not only a handful but manipulative. When she disappears one afternoon the impact not only on her family but her neighbours is huge.A good read but a sudden ending that left it hanging.

great holiday read - couldn't put it down
You will feel the anxiety of the various people involved as you try to decide what is going wrong.
You will feel the anxiety of the various people involved as you try to decide what is going wrong. Most parents married more than 15 years will see the driving forces in this very exciting, well written story.
Couldn’t Put it down
A real suspenseful page turner.
deckare/thriller
En ny bra bok av kanadensiskan Shari Lapena. Ofta en twist på slutet i hennes böcker och spännande intrig i övrigt.
