Tao of Wu, The

Description:

About this item:

The RZA, the Abbot of the Wu-Tang Clan and hip-hop culture's most dynamic genius, imparts the lessons he learned on the journey that took him from the Staten Island projects to international superstardom, all the while a devout student of knowledge in every form he's found it - on the streets, in religion, in martial arts, in chess or in popular culture. Part chronicle of an extraordinary life and part spiritual and philosophical discourse, The Tao of Wu is a Siddartha for the hip-hop generation.

About the Author

The RZA is most famous as the founder and leader of the Wu-Tang Clan, the platinum-selling hip-hop group that is widely considered one of the most important of all time, and has also spanned multiplatinum solo careers for many of its members, including RZA. Originally from Staten Island, he is currently based in Los Angeles, where he has continued his music career while successfully branching out into lecturing, television, and film.

The genius that is the RZA has pulled it out the bag with this one. It really helped me on my own journey. I felt i could relate a lot with what he was saying. Straight realness, broadened my horizon. Thank you RZA. Wu-Tang Forever

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating book.

I grew up listening to the Wu-tang clan and they developed my passion for all things Hip-Hop. I admire The RZA hugely and so this book was really interesting from start to finish. How a massively talented guy take 8 other rappers from an impoverished and violent background and gives them such a global platform is fascinating to read.I certainly have some more Kung fu movies to watch now as well.A book that really makes you think.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enthralling, honest, with something to learn for everyone who reads it

RZA is a gifted man, and has seen a lot. Although my upbringing and outlook may differ to him, the logic and wisdom he possesses is enthralling and there is much to learn between the book covers. An essential purchase, I'll make sure to read more about and by the Wu-Tang family.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read.

A must-read for not only fans of the Wu-Tang Clan, RZA, or hip-hop, but also for anyone in the least bit interested in eastern philosophy, self-development or feeling a little lost in life. I was expecting a great insight into the Abbot's life, and how Wu-Tang came to be. What I wasn't expecting was for my thoughts to be challenged at every turn, and discovering things about myself through The RZA's words. One of the best books I have ever had the pleasure of reading, period.

Sceptical about some of the mathematics examples given to clarify points of view but apart from this I really enjoyed the book. A far cry from the bling and n###a talk that some hip hop artists seem to think is all right to hit impressionable young people with. Rza makes you think EVERYONE has an effect on the world we live in and hopefully this can be done for the good of the human race.Peace be with you brothers & sisters.MC MC

Book for the soul

N. · 27 June 2022

RZA has a lot to say, and he says it with simplicity and power. He writes of the Wu-Tang formation and rise to stardom, but the details are not as important as the lessons. This is an autobiography, primarily, but it is also a book about spirituality, life and death, and the lessons of life, and the lessons of the five-percent, the Gods and Earths.RZA leaves a lot of gems throughout. The one that hit me hardest was on page 197, but don't skip to it. It will hit you when you get there.Wu-Tang is for the children! Wu-Tang Forever!Peace.
