5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent money saving recipes
For several years now, i have only used natural and chemical free, cosmetics and skin care,so i was excited to receive a copy of Pure Skin Care, to read and test out the recipes. This book covers everything, that you need, to make your own skincare products at home, using readily available ingredients. The first chapter covers, caring for your skin and includes determining your skin type and also diet and therapies, and which skin product is best for you, the individual..The book gives recipes to make your own skin toners, cleansers, moisturisers, scrubs, balms, and ointments and lots of others ideas, too. Every item has its own fab names, such as 'Outta Here' , Oil Skin Scrub, which gave the book a unique feel. Each recipe also includes a little box to the side of it, stating the recommended skin types, including sensitive and environmentally damaged skin.I decided to make the Lemon Refresher Skin Toner ,which suits my oily skin type and i found it both, very simple to get hold of the ingredients and to make, and will be using this from now on, as it is half the cost of buying a manufactured brand name. I intend to make the Sweet and Spicy Body Polish, this week, and they will look great in some nice jars and good enough to give as gifts. All in all i just adore this book as it uses natural and easily available ingredients, at low cost and has easy recipes with lots of essential oil, based ones included, which smell delicious and are great for the skin and i would recommend to anyone looking to make their own skin care. I just reviewed Pure Skin Care by Stephanie L. Tourles. #PureSkinCare #NetGalley
4.0 out of 5 stars An Informative & Accessible Guide To Producing All-Natural Skincare For Beginnners & Pros Alike!
Having suffered from eczema for many years as well as skin sensitivity, I tend to like to know what ingredients are incorporated into my beauty products, whether that be skincare or make-up. Due to not knowing how my skin will react to various hidden chemicals, I have stuck to the same brands for numerous years. Elemis has been my go-to brand for skincare essentials and has always worked like a miracle for me. Bestselling author Stephanie Tourles is a trusted specialist working to steer us all in the right direction towards less harmful products. Having being introduced to her via her excellent guide on using essential oils, not only is she an aromatherapist, she's a licensed esthetician, too. Being a fierce all-natural advocate she certainly knows her stuff! In this compilation, she shares her favourite nontoxic recipes with the world.'Pure Skin Care' is a book that takes the burgeoning demand for all-natural skincare by the scruff of the neck and teaches us how to create our own beauty products in the comfort of our homes. With the added benefit of knowing exactly what is in each miraculous concoction, and the ability to produce our own blends much more cheaply that anything you can purchase ready made, there is no excuse for not giving this a go. Not only does she create magical mixtures, she educates us on the science of our skin and discusses other ways we can look after it (such as drinking ample amounts of water). Although the information provided is no doubt sound and solid, there is so much of it that I could see this perhaps overwhelming a beginnner or those taking their first tentative steps into the DIY beauty sphere. There is also a tendency towards large ingredient lists, and I can see this being an issue as people have less disposable income now than ever before.Overall, there are 78 different recipes featuring all types of beauty products, including cleansers, toners, scrubs, masks, moisturisers, steams, creams, exfoliators and balms. There are preparations for products that can be used from head-to-toe and for men or women. It also covers mixtures for particular medical conditions - rosacea, acne and sun damaged skin. The photographs which complement each recipe are aesthetically pleasing, crisp and clear. I have tried many of the recipes and my skin has come up clean, clear and beautifully smooth each time. I will be working my way through the book, trying many of those recipes that strike a chord with me. This is a perfect gift for the DIY beauty lover in your life and is ideal to dip in and out of. Without a doubt, a book I will return to again and again. Many thanks to Storey Publishing for an ARC. I was not required to post a review, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
Well-written and Useful
This book presents the basics of natural skin care with Stephanie Tourles’ lovely writing style and a whole lot of useful recipes and beautiful photos. It’s so hard to find books on this topic that are a pleasure to read, and Stephanie always delivers.

the ultimate guide
This is the ultimate guide to making your own cosmetics. A nice product. This recipe book contains many recipes from the author's first book.
This book is awesome and worth the purchase
This book is absolutely fantastic. It’s very aesthetically pleasing, and the recipes are wonderful! I’ve made a number of things since receiving the book just a week ago, and everything’s improved my skin significantly! I love this book so much, I have placed an order for more of her books! I put 2 and 2 together and realized that I had read her raw book about 5 years ago, and I loved it! It was from the library, but now I’ll be ordering it. I trust this lady, she seems to know what she’s talking about (coming from a RN and Massage Therapist). I saw another review where the reviewer stated that you can find all of this information online and that this book is a rip off. I highly disagree. Stephanie explains the science behind her recipes, there’s tons of solid and thorough information, and the recipes themselves are quite original! Yes some of the recipes you can find very similar stuff online, but more of them are unique than not!
