Morpho: Simplified Forms: Anatomy for Artists: 2 (Morpho: Anatomy for Artists)

Description:

About this item:

This small, portable book presents a unique perspective on the human body for artists to study and implement in their drawing work. In this book, artist and teacher Michel Lauricella simplifies the human body into basic, synthetic shapes and forms, offering profound insight for artists of all kinds, sparking the imagination and improving one's observational abilities. Rather than going the traditional route of memorizing a repertoire of poses, Lauricella instead stresses learning this small collection of forms, which can then be combined and shaped into the more complex and varied forms and postures we see in the living body.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short but sweet

For artists that want to improve drawing from imagination this is a great little book with some excellent examples on how to simplify anatomical forms. It particularly helped me with some of the tricky to decipher areas like the hips.I personally prefer this to some of the more renowned instructional books such as loomis or bridgeman. Loomis’ book is too wordy for me and I’m personally not a fan of how his figures look. Bridgeman has the style nailed but his drawings are loose and abstract and the text is like reading some cryptic language. This book however is simple, easy to understand, and most importantly the drawings themselves look great.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really good, a bit small!

These books are excellent pocket guides to anatomy, the illustrations are all high quality and good to reference- and the text is readable! They're really good for helping improve drawing from imagination. It also opens and lays flat, which is brilliant for referencing. However, pocket guide is literal. These are only A5 and are no bigger than 1-2 cm. The images on the listing don't do the actual size of this book justice, and like a lot of reviews here, I was expecting something bigger. The binding is also only glued on one side, which does allow the book to lay flat, but makes the book feel a tad flimsy.Despite it's flaws, I'd still reccomend these books, just be aware of the small sizing.

This is my first book from the MORPHO series and For someone who likes to go out and study in a café or other social spaces this is perfect. The spine of the book is not attached which makes the book lay flat with little effort nicely so you aren't fighting the pages. the content itself is handy so far and I am only partway through the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT LITTLE BOOK --- could've been of 1/5th bigger format

                L. · 17 November 2021

Actually, top-notch. Great binding. The format may seem too small for some though. Have been expecting the content of this very book to be heavily borrowed from Bridgeman and Hampton's legacy, however, it is much more than that. This is Lauricella's book and Lauricella's approach to the matter. It is worth reading the text in fact. Really good.

3.0 out of 5 stars Would not recommend this for the price or quality

                R. · 24 March 2021

Quite shocked at the size and quality of this book for the price its very basic and for the price I would not buy it or any over of his books I did look at some of his other titles before this book turned up so glad I did not buy it because they were even more expensiveAs I first opened this book the book cover came away from the spine the cover is too stiff for a paperback book

5.0 out of 5 stars great

it’s got sections for the different parts of anatomy you’re learning and so many references to follow. i find it super helpful and can already notice an improvement for myself.

Excellent and please read product description before you buy

(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } The illustrations in these books are very informative and one of the best features of this series is the exposed binding that allows the book to lay flat while you draw. This way you don't have to hold the book open to keep on page you're using. There seems to be a bit of confusion in some of the other reviews claiming the books are damaged but this is intentional and really to your benefit. In short these are wonderful books for anyone looking to improve their drawing skills.

                Me encanta.

                Livro lindo

Chegou bem rápido e boas condições, ilustração bem feita, desenhos e informações bem interessantes.

Indeed simplified and quite outstanding guide

                E. · 31 December 2023

First of all, it is small as shown in some of the pics I uploaded. However, it’s not the size, but the content that’s important. It includes sections about Head & Neck, Torso & shoulders, upper limbs & Lower limbs. I’m very visual so I am enjoying the illustrations in itself that I can practice doing right along each page to correct my drawing proportions. I am liking the content so much that I am excited to get more the other Morpho books. If they are like this one, it’s easy to bring anywhere. The price is very affordable considering what is included and easy to take along anywhere I go. I am glad to have purchased this one. It will help me improve a lot. 😁

The condition ,book, and the packaging all were just top notch
