Before I picked this book up, I had to ask myself a hard hitting question... "Damien, if you are thirty-something years old, are you still a young adult?". Let's face it, the answer is probably no but that doesn't mean that the information in this book didn't help me. You know the phrase "Common sense isn't always common practice"? Well N M Hill's new book makes common sense, make sense (Even if that sentence is a mouthful). There is a note very early on in the book that struck a cord with me. "Adulting doesn't suck. It's all about about doing it right." And it's true. Haven't you had a terrible day that was fixed by a knee-slapping home cooked meal? The book empowers you to learn new (or hone current) life skills and makes you see things through different eyes. It's aimed at the younger collage leaver but it most certainly helped this thirty-something year old who had lost his way a little.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift for late teens/early 20’s
Whilst navigating the complicated road to raising teenage children, I happened upon this book, it has helped immensely in terms of me being able to offer practical advice - or just handing them the book and pointing to certain chapters when they feel I am unable to understand/empathise (since I am from the Stone Age apparently). All in all, a great read for a pivotal stage in human life. Will be purchasing some more and gifting to my nieces/nephew when I feel they are at the right stage for it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great asset for teens
Moving away from home to live independently can sometimes be challenging. This book is a great asset for young adults facing that challenge. There are lots of practical tips to get them started from cooking, money management and lots more so as not to start from a blank page or rely on mom and dad. A great asset indeed.
5.0 out of 5 stars “A recipe has no soul, you as the cook must bring soul to the recipe.”
This book has everything! I am nearly 30 years old and even a few chapters in I was learning so much stuff I never even thought about. Not only is this a good book for young adults and grown ups alike, I think it would also be an excellent tool for those with complicated needs or mental health issues who may benefit from more structure in their routines without losing independence. Insightful, funny and extremely handy!

Excellent Guidance and Advice for Adults and Teens
Wonderful book! It contains lots of helpful information for young adults, like recipes, first aid for choking, and fixing drywall. However, it's not well-organized. All these topics are mixed together in one chapter, making it hard to find what you need quickly. Plus, most of this information is easily available online, which is where young people usually look first. Despite this, the book is still useful, but better organization would have made it even better. I recommend it.
Very informative
I'll be suggesting this book to the young adults in my life - this book over many practical, helpful tips to allow young adults to navigate the growing responsibilities of adulthood. Definitely recommend!
