5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book on Celtic mythology and I learnt a lot
I’ve always been fascinated by the Celtic religion but never got round to reading about it. This is the perfect book as it covers all the important aspects for a newbie like me. I always look at the table of contents as it gives an understanding of the scope of the book and what topics are covered. I really liked the scope of this book as it covers so many areas in relation to Celtic beliefs eg nature, Gods and Goddesses, rituals, folklore and fairies, the link to the animal kingdom, importance of the Divine feminine and so much more. The Celtic religion is very spiritual too, which I really like as I’ve been spiritual for many years now.The book is packed with fascinating information and also structured and formatted beautifully, which makes it an easy and enjoyable read.I look forward to the next book by the same author

I enjoyed the blend of engaging narrative style, scholarly insight and illustrative examples in this book, which is written in an accessible style. It is full of interesting stories as well as historical facts - a comprehensive introduction to a complex subject. Rather than reading like a history textbook, author Neve Sullivan emphasises the relevance of the concepts outlined in this book to our modern society, and how to make them applicable to everyday life. I especially liked the parallels drawn between our consumerist view of nature and the Celts' deep reverence for the earth, animals and landscapes. We could learn a lot from ancient Celtic culture.

4.0 out of 5 stars An important read in our modern world.
The Romans were primarily urban but the Celts more rural, and this affected their beliefs and the gods they worshipped , but what does that mean for all of us in our modern high tech world? More than you might think, our moods and attitudes being shaped by an almost total disconnect from seed and soil. Is it a coincidence that the increase in mental health problems grows apace with our almost obsessive reliance on our phones and gadgets? The Celts on the other hand were people who cared very much about community and believed that everything with which they made contact had a soul. We don’t have to believe that literally, but in a world where so many of us are confused about our belief system, or lack of it, delving into the mind set of these people could well help us identify and analyse our own confusions. It is fascinating that the Celts did not believe that death was the end, but simply a progression to “The Other World” where death and age and sickness did not exist, where each day lasted 100 days and where happiness lasted for ever. What a comfort to consider, even if only briefly, that this might be possible.Neve Sullivan has written a worthy and clearly well researched book which does not merely give us bald facts about our Celtic ancestors but gets underneath the concept and reason for their beliefs. Read it to see what you can learn, not merely about the Celts but about yourself.

Thoroughly enjoyable, recommended for anyone curious about Celtic spirituality
"A Beginner's Guide to Celtic Spirituality" is a wonderful guide to ancient Celtic spirituality and society. I feel that I was taught a lot about the Romans at school but not about the Celts, my own ancestors. This book is an inspiring guide to reconnecting with our history and the earth.
An enligtening guide
"A Beginner's Guide to Celtic Spirituality" is a truly enligtening guide to the ancient Celtic mysteries. Neve Sullivan expertly guides the reader through the mysterious world of the Celts and its relevance today. As a woman, I was intrigued to learn about the powerful role that women played in the Celtic culture. I felt inspired and empowered reading about the Celtic women and the concept of the Divine Feminine, which was new to me.
That Makes Sense Now!
The Celtic vibe shop seems to be in every cool small town in the US! Why? Neve breaks down the basics and it starts with how prolific the Gauls were in exploring and moving through Europe. With solid research she separates fact from fiction where possible. I personally learned things in the Celtic mindset about death and living that explains why they were such fearless warriors. Also, the Celtic view of gender roles is astonishingly modern contributing to their strength. Really enjoyed it!
