5.0 out of 5 stars Trivia Bill does it again!!

The Emerald Isle comes to life in Bills latest offering - little known facts -ways of life and a dip into myth for good measure- did you know the Republics capital is Blackpool?- It is - because thats what Dublin translates into English- Apparently my dads mum came from County Cork with the surname Casey and I was born with bright ginger hair- another Irish trait(check out Maureen O'Hara) - keep-em coming Bill -these little masterpieces are eagerly awaited

We are of Irish descent and I wanted to find something to keep my dad amused while in Covid Lockdown. It seems to be doing the trick and he is keen to try some of the other books

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother

B. · 17 April 2022

Cocid boredom drives a person to insane action. Finishing this book was one of those. Some of the "facts" are dubious, not exactly written in the style of literary genius. The other books advertised on the cover (and through spectacular Bolo spam after purchasing the book are downright drivel). Thankfully I didn't pay to read those. Do not click on and enter details on the book download link - although I didn't complete the registration, the Bill O Neil marketing machine grabbed hold of my email and tried to entice me to buy his tabloidesque volumes on a daily basis through various never to be repeated special offers. Thank the Universe for mail blocking

2.0 out of 5 stars This book of facts about Ireland and the Irish is not what I thought it would be

R. · 15 February 2020

This book about Ireland and the Irish is not for the person who knows a fair amount about this subject. It seems to be aimed at those who know absolutely nothing about Ireland and is presented in short chapters covering very basic topics as if the reader knows nothing of Ireland and the Irish. It seems to be aimed more at a junior school level of intelligence rather than the person who wishes to know more about the major topics in the Irish people, their folk lore and traditions. Save your money and buy something which informs at a higher level of intelligence.

Vraiment amusant

THERE'S NO BLARNEY WHEN IT COMES TO THIS BOOK

R.L.M. · 11 March 2019

Author Bill O’Neill has a definite proficiency when it comes to compiling the myriad of useful and educational trivia books he’s published so far. While all of them have been meticulously organized to enhance the reading experience, his Great Book of the various states series I feel is his best since they each epitomizes how great America already is.In each of his Great State books the author sticks to a proven format which consists of the following six chapters [albeit the order might be somewhat different]:In each of the six chapters this book contains:1- State’s History2- State’s Pop Culture3- State’s Attractions4- State’s Inventions, Ideas and More5- State’s Biggest Haunts, Supernatural and Other Weird Facts6- State’s SportsMr. O’Neill begins each chapter by taking an item regarding its topic and gives his readers a brief, yet informative description of about it, this is followed by some random facts, which is then culminated by his giving some questions related to the information which the chapter has just given, naturally the answers are given as well. With six states already written, Mr. O’Neill has decided to move on to writing books on an International level; and what country had he chosen to write about first. I believe, he has befittingly chosen to write about the country of his apparent ancestry, that of Ireland; and in doing so, has chosen to stick to this same format. And to get an idea of the multitude of items the author has written about, all one needs to do is to read the author’s own description, or better yet, peruse the preview pages for a complete listing of the topics being discussed in the pages of this book. For given his readers and myself, an enlightening trivia book about the country and people of Ireland, without giving any blarney in the process, I’m happy to give the author, Bill O’Neill, the 5 STAR he’s receiving.
