After dumping a "bestseller" and "unputdownable" load of rubbish, I was in need of reading therapy; something witty, polished, moving, uplifting, and most importantly something well written. The Burnout was the perfect choice. It's been a while since i read the Shopaholic series, and I wondered if Kinsella still had it. Oh YES! This is joyful, poignant, hysterical, quirky and emotional. The characters are fabulous - Cassidy is such a wonderful creation, but so are all the people who bring a cery straightforward idea alive. Books don't have to be oh so clever to be deep and The Burnout proves that point in spades. Skilfully plotted and planned, a beautifully judged balance of humour and drama, this was the perfect book to reassure me that reading could be obe if life's great pleasures. Thank you Sophie Kinsella.

I'm a long time fan of Sophie Kinsella but had not read her books for some years. This was a welcome return and an excellent read. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, humour and romance of the story, a real page turner.

I thought it started out a bit silly but half way through the story really picked up and I enjoyed the book. Great characters. Tiny bit predictable in places but a fun, light read.

I tried a sample of this book on my Kindle and was immediately drawn into it. Some of these novels can be quite predictable, but this had enough twists and turns to keep it interesting. The characters were brilliant and they developed perfectly. I really did get a vision in my head of Rilston Bay and the hotel, as though I had actually been there.I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Sophie Kinsella and this genre. It is the best book I have read recently and I will miss it!

I read this whilst recovering from surgery - it's a great light read, with parts that are laugh out loud funny & also parts that are surprisingly touching. I'd definitely recommend, especially for anyone who has grown up taking a holiday on the UK coast.

I found it hard to put this book down. It pulls you in from the very first page and has you hooked. I cried, I laughed and I held my breath in anticipation. A real feel good, heart warming book. Kinsella paces the plot well and keeps you guessing. The characters are loveable andrelatable. It isn't predictable and the twists and turns make it well worth reading.

I absolutely adore the way Sophie Kinsella writes. Her dialogue, character development, story arc, and small details she threads in each chapter captivates me as a reader.I highly recommend the audiobook companion, too. The acting adds a depth to the characters and narrative.I felt every emotion throughout this novel — I got teary-eyed, I laughed out loud, my heart ache, I was annoyed, I was in love.Sophie’s signature surprises make an appearance in the most heartwarming of ways.

Uma das características que eu mais aprecio nos livros da autora é o humor, que não é forçado e consegue divertir e fazer qualquer leitor dar boas risadas.Esse não é diferente.O tema central do enredo é sério e até um pouco tenso, já que a personagem principal acaba de passar por uma estafa física e mental originada pelo trabalho e volta ao local em que passava férias na infância para se recuperar.No entanto, tudo é abordado de forma leve e muito realista, com algumas passagens tristes, outras muito engraçadas e até emocionantes.Além disso, há a construção gradativa de uma amizade entre duas pessoas que se ajudam mutuamente na superação, que se torna um lindo romance.Ótima história!
