Learning English never seemed easier. What a great book to have, not only for the children's library, but for anyone who would like to improve their language skills. Lots of Questions-Answers to practice, images to help visual learners. A concise, well written guide.

KS3 English is Easy: Reading: Fiction, Plays & Poetry. As a writer, author up-and-coming poet, apprentice wordsmith and book reviewer, I believe the book a good parent/teacher reminder of the basic new KS3 curriculum. It was compulsive reading and enlightening in numerous segments. The compulsory national curriculum Key Stage 3 for ages 11-14 details 12 core subject. This book focuses very well on reading skills, fiction, plays and poetry. It's a cross between a reading and reference book, post reading favored as the former - a reading book.I found particular benefit in the Golden Nugget section - pages 15-20. The eleven Golden Nuggets form a progressive database with tips. I re-visited these six pages a number of times.Key terms pages 21-26: well written and easy to follow.I particle admired the section - "Setting Atmosphere and Emotion" pages 39-61: excellent; reference to Jane Eyre....."The room was chill, because it seldom had a fire; it was silent because remote from the nursery and kitchen; solemn, because it was known to be seldom entered......."This is an emphasis of a model of "setting key elements” in fiction.....Understanding poetry: pages 133-160: As an art form, poetry has a unique style and form compared to other types of writing. The pages make references to the "Masters" Roberts Louis Stevenson: Shakespeare and Edgar Allan Poe. I would have loved some reference to Oscar Wild. Notwithstanding, this section is well written.Yes all in all, the book is interesting, precise informative and an essential 11-14-year-olds parent/teacher handbook. I would unreservedly recommend a place for it on your book shelve....Dr David Wright.
