About the Author
Djamila Knopf was working as an illustrator for gaming and books publishing until 2017, when she had an epiphany and dedicated herself to being an independent artist doing her own work. Mainly working digitally, Djamila was obsessed with 90s anime shows and anything else that had a fantastical twist to it, and her work today is an accumulation of these early influences. She is also an instructor for the online art school Schoolism. Djamila lives and works in Leipzig, Germany, surrounded by beautiful historical buildings and greenery. When she's not drawing or painting, Djamila enjoys karaoke, bouldering, and traveling.

I'm not a digital artist, but there are many young artists working in this field who produce outstanding graphic work and Djamila Knof is certainly one of them.A beautifully produced and well-illustrated hardback book (typical of this publisher) this provides a profile of the artist, plus an insight into her working methods, tutorial advice and over all, a nice portfolio of her work.A very worthwhile volume to get if one is a digital artist, or just interested in the process or genre.It's a real shame Bolo have not provided a “Look inside” option for this – do Google her for examples of her work.

It's difficult to write a review or an art book, as people's tastes vary. But to me, Djamila Knopf's art is beautiful. The text is interesting, with some tutorial passages and some parts that are more biographical but which can give a bit of insight into the ideas behind her art. But the highlight is the sensational artwork - both sketches and paintings. Judge this book by its cover - if you like the cover art, you'll find a load more treats inside!

The book is overflowing with stunning artwork, and the use of lighting is wonderful. Really recommend to anyone who wishes to add this to their artbook collection.

First, I've been a fan of Djamila for quite some time, and subscribe on her patreon. This book met and exceeded my expectations. While I have the PSDs from the monthly patreon rewards, this book is going to be treasured. I love the little tutorials at the end that show how she paints her Ghibli style foliage and other things.Great inspiration to artists and just lovely to hold and admire for others.

A wide range of Djamila Knopf's illustrations are beautifully reproduced in this album, along with some step-by-step guides through the artist's process and her influences and aims. Common themes are nostalgia for childhood, rivers and forests and animal characters in the natural world, Japanese traditional or 20th century towns- and landscapes, the atmosphere of Studio Ghibli films and a sense of magical realism or the grounded fantastical.

Pra quem adquirir o livro é ótimo que veja também as entrevistas dela no YT.Ela faz um tutorial extremamente minucioso, sobre como desenvolveu a ilustração da capa, com várias dicas, truques e processos que usa, do esboço até os detalhes finais.Também da dicas valiosas sobre composição, Paleta de cores, iluminação, como usar referências fotográficas,Vale cada centavo!Uma pena que foi mal embalado pela Bolo, apenas com um envelope simples e um plástico bolha, chegou aqui com a capa danificada como se tivesse caído de quina.

Un hermoso libro, habla sobre la evolución de la artista y nos comenta sobre su progreso, además de comentar el cómo ha elaborado algunas de sus ilustraciones, además de unos cuantos tips.Excelente calidad del libro, las ilustraciones se puede ver cada detalle, además el contenido es muy interesante, llegó en perfectas condiciones (aunque un poco sucio, pero con una toallita se quita), sin duda un libro para la colección de artistas c:
Excellent quality
I really love this book, it shares the personal journey and inspirations of Djamila. The drawings are really good, the colors, resolution, and print quality are excellent. I recommend it 100%.The only issue is that I think it could have been properly packaged before shipping, it wasn't inside a plastic wrap as every other book I buy, just the book inside the box, had minor shipping/stain damage. It was fixed by cleaning it but still.
