5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Excellent book, it does throw you straight into the language so you may need to print off the dictionary at the back of the book, I really enjoyed it and definitely gave me a good understanding of grammar something I had previously struggled with. I would highly recommend this book
5.0 out of 5 stars Great book
Easy to read for the beginners with provided dictionary.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fun stories that really help me to apply the language I've learned elsewhere.
As a learner of Swedish based in the UK, I've struggled to find texts of the right standard to practise my comprehension. These stories are perfect for that. They're quite short but involve a wide range of grammar and vocabulary. Each story is followed by a summary in English and Swedish, a list of new vocabulary and a set of multiple-choice questions. I found the combination just right to help me follow what was going on. It's really helping my Swedish to improve beyond the phrasebook level.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great stories for beginners
I have really enjoyed reading these stories- they are funny and engaging. The chapter specific vocabulary is a great help and there is good advice on how to approach reading these stories as a beginner. I found I was was quickly able to recall new vocabulary and remember past tense verbs. I am doing an online Swedish course too which helps me then to use my knowledge of infinitive verbs to then have a good guess at past tense verbs. Though there are some special past tense verbs that don't follow the pattern! Thanks.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners and intermediates
I have been reading studying the lingo language series for sometime now and I find them very helpful. When used with the audio, it helps me get a feel for the language and helps with my learning. I however don’t find the English spoken part of the audio series very useful and instead makes the audio book longer than necessary.
5.0 out of 5 stars Very interesting stories
I thoroughly enjoyed the stories which were so different from the usual language books. It was very useful having a vocabulary list at the end of each chapter. I’ve even been able to use what I’ve learnt in real life!
5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful
It has been a while since I studied any Swedish. This book has proved to be a fun, useful tool to get me back into the language. Thoroughly enjoyable
5.0 out of 5 stars Good way to increase your Swedish knowledge
a very interesting and helpful book. I did have to refer to the dictionary at the back of the book sometimes but in doing so I did learn many new Swedish words. I shall re-read the book to see how my Swedish has improved.

‘Ingen fara’ – ‘no worries’ – the enjoyable way to learn Swedish, worry-free!
Lingo Mastery has embarked on another mission – to make Swedish more accessible to a wider population. In their Introductory Note for the initial Swedish Language Lessons book Lingo Mastery states: ‘Sweden has a population of approximately 10 million people, and an estimated 80% speak Swedish as a first language…Moreover, in the United States it is believed that around half a million Swedish descendents speak Swedish…Sweden is an interesting country to visit, and while most people you meet will speak excellent English – there is a part of Sweden you won’t experience unless you speak the language…We’ve written this book to provide you, as a Swedish learner, with short, captivating stories that take place in a range of setting throughout Sweden…Our goal is to provide you with useful, entertaining, helpful and challenging material that will not only allow you to learn the language but also help you pass the time and make the experience less formal and more fun..’After their success teaching Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Turkish, German, Russian, and Tagalog, and now they turn to teaching Swedish. And it works. Each chapter relates a story, a short summary, a vocabulary list, and a list of multiple choice questions (with answers!) to assure that all aspects of learning are covered wellThe technique is solid and the lessons well taught. This is a very fine supplement to learning Swedish, with ideas and themes to which everyone con relate. This is a book much needed at this time in our national status! Grady Harp, June 21
The perfect book for learning Swedish!
This book is a must have if you’re learning Swedish! There are 20 well written stories to improve your vocabulary. Each story is written in natural Swedish. At the end of each story there is a summary in both languages so that you can see if you understood the story. My method of reading the book: I read a story first in Swedish, even if I don’t understand. Then I read through translating it into English, highlighting and adding notes to words I didn’t know. In my third reading I’m able to understand the story in its entirety. Just like when first learning English, you won’t understand every word but it’s easy to figure out the meaning of words you don’t know by the context of the story.I recommend this book for all levels of Swedish learning.
Incredibly helpful for an intermediate learner
I can read some basic Swedish novels (detective fiction) slowly. They're good, but they are harder to find in the US and it's tiresome to look up so many words. These stories allowed me to read more fluidly and therefore grasp the meanings of certain new words from the context alone or by using the glossary after each story. Actually, they were more like vignettes of real Swedish life than artistic fiction--though they were not without artistic merit either. For the most part, each story was too short to 'go anywhere deep', but I wanted them to. They drew me in easily. It's of course fine that they stopped short, as the point was to deliver a succinct language lesson in its cultural context. I really appreciate this book and I hope to see more like it.
Well damn.
Much better than I expected. It's written using common words, yet the stories are quite enjoyable to read.Though don't expect too much regarding the storytelling, they are only short stories after all.VEERY well suited for picking up a bunch of new+common words while giving yourself some sweet immersion, and therefore comprehensible Input which is the essence of language acquisition.Highly recommend this, once you have learnt your basic swedish grammar and vocab from Teach yourself swedish or any other Textbook.
