This is a very shallow, poorly written, short book. It tells you how to move the pieces - to which it doesn't even assign values - but that's about it. Hardly any examples of check and checkmate. The section on openings is absolutely pathetic, just a couple of moves in the Italian Game, an opening that no-one has used for decades. Then there is barely a page on the Sicilian, which explains next to nothing. There is nothing on Queen's Pawn openings. The illustrations are crappy black and white drawings. Children need to know how to move the pieces but also why they are making moves, not some vague instructions to develop towards the center. The final nail in the coffin is the author's use of terms like ''nomenclature''. For children? Hardly.

Excellent book, this book is a great asset to have, this book is teaching you to immerse yourself in the game and discover your next great move or strategies that will help you to plan next level of the game, it is an extremely powerful tool to become critical thinker literally.

I recently purchased this chess book for my 8-year-old, and it has been a fantastic experience! The book is incredibly well-written and designed with young learners in mind. The author of this book does not even play chess in my opinion. Some information is not accurate or missing (for example the value of individual pieces). I bought the book, looked it over and submitted a refund request to Bolo the next day. Did the author maybe use AI to write this book??
