My daughter’s class (year 6) are studying WW2 and I saw this so bought it for her.Her class are regularly using it to assist with their learning and my daughter feels quite special as it’s obviously her book.Can’t wait to read it myself when they’ve finished with it!

Bought this for my 10 year old nephew. He is so into history of the 2nd world war. Ideal, he hasn't put it down even taking it into school.

The information seems straightforward and accurate but he seems to be somewhat condescending. To me some of the amazing facts are things I've always known, others are interesting and new to me so it's a mixture. Incidentally had I seen the cover of this book I would never have bought it as it gives totally the wrong impression. It's about a war that included many countries but the only two represented on the cover (as far as I can see) are the US and Russia. It doesn't really make sense.

Good for learning or creating a basic pub-quiz
I'm a WW2 buff so I was wondering if this had anything new for me to learn. It's definitely not thorough in it's writing but it's clearly meant for a younger audience, which is cool, the facts are still bang on, just nothing I didn't know. Goes through different aspects of the war well enough chapter by chapter from info about leaders, the buildup, USA during neutrality, Soviet-Nazi Pact, through to different operations and such year by year. Questions at the end of each chapter good for pub quiz like "What does Blitzkrieg mean?" "What symbol did the French Resistance adopt" and "What was Vichy France's official political position?" at the end of each chapter. If you got a kid interested in this or you want to get started learning yourself it's pretty good. But if you already have a bunch of books and documentaries don't expect to learn anything new.
