5.0 out of 5 stars Ray Dalio, is a genuine success story.
There are so many fakes and charlatans looking for likes, shares and subscriptions out there. Breath a sigh of relief as Ray Dalio is a genuine, real deal success story. He is humble enough to admit and share about a time where he was arrogant, naive and wrong. But this allowed him to go back to the drawing board and to analyse things differently. So then came a lifetime of successes, failures and reflections which allowed to him put together ‘Principles for Success’. He genuinely wants us to take these on board, adapt them to each of our own goals and intentions and for us to become success stories in our right. This is not a children’s book.. this is a nice, easy-on-the-eye, easy to digest bite sized summary. That said it should shown and be taught to all children. Highly recommended reading FOR ALL!!
5.0 out of 5 stars I can recommend Principles for Success - it helps you on your journey through life.
"(...) if you keep focused on achieving your dreams, take responsibility for understanding the realities that affect you and how to deal with that well, and do that with determination, you will learn principles that will give you a successful life." (p. 30).If you look at the cover you might get the impression that this is a children's book. It is definitely not, as while the images will appeal to most children, they will not have enough knowledge to understand the points that Ray is making. I would say 14 - 16 is the earliest age. It does help lowering the barrier from especially people that read only occasionally. While there is 100+ pages I finished it in about 30 minutes. The book sums up the principles that Ray wrote in his 600-page book: Principles: Life and Work. There are also some YouTube videos produced. In order of accessibility to the Principles this is number one. In fact, I bought it for all my leadership teams as I like them to be successful in life but many don't read so much. What I like about The Principles is that it is easy to understand and yet at times it is an eye opener. The final pages reveal the ups and downs in everyone's life: the difference between people is that everyone's journey is different. When something really good or bad happens to you, it's easy to think you are the only one and you may feel sorry for yourself. But realizing that every human has their challenges and (usually) the choice to overcome or to accept what happened it should help you move forward in life and be successful. I like how Ray looks at success: it is what you define for yourself. Some might want a swimming pool and a house on at a beach - I like my child to be successful and I hope I can do more for other people and travel the world. We have to take our own journey but then when you get older you realize that actually helping others on their journey might be more meaningful and rewarding then just focusing on yourself. Also check his video on YouTube: search for "How The Economic Machine Works by Ray Dalio"If you like this book, I recommend reading his other book: Principles: Life and Work (excellent). Others to consider: Principles for Navigating Big Debt Crise (available Dec 2022) and Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order: Why Nations Succeed or Fail (OK).
5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing and insightful book
Well written and straight to the point, a very good summary of the longer version of the book. If you enjoyed this book I would strongly suggest reading through the complete version.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great
This is a great short version for readers without the patience of focus to read the original book. I would recommend the original any day, and the four star rating reflects that it cannot possibly be as good as the original.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read and Lovely Simple layout ideal for kids to be taught skills
Quick easy simple read, that everyone should refer back to. Inspiring mentor who does actually have track record of success and worth listening and reading his advice.
5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful!
This proved to be very insightful and helpful to see the bigger picture which we sometimes miss in the midst of daily chaos.
5.0 out of 5 stars Finished it in one sitting
Loved it - very easy to read and summarised the original ‘bigger book’ perfectly.
3.0 out of 5 stars Great read but...
Its a great and simply easy read but doesnt really add up the price with the amount of content/read you get for it.
The right book to read at any time
Whether you’re becoming an adult, or ready to retire, this book is for you. Simple, useful, and profount. A good perspective of yout journey through life.
Quick Read of Important Life Information
I loved this book. It had been recommended to me by a friend who had bought it for her grandson. I bought it to give to my granddaughter. But I read it first. I wish i'd had a book like this when I was 18, or 25, for even 35 or 45. I am 78 now and it's a bit too late to use the principals for success. The best I can do now is to give the book to others who still have time to implement them. This author has written a regular "adult" version, which my friend is reading. She says it"s a bit of a slog, but the author lists out his principals in a fuller, thus more complicated way. I think the main point is to make goals, keep going even if you fail, make decisions that take you in the right direction. And never give up! Anyone can benefit from this small, accessible book, maybe even someone in their twilight years.
