About the Author

Wendy Hollender is a botanical artist, illustrator, instructor and author. She is a leading expert in using coloured pencils and watercolour pencils to create detailed botanical drawings and paintings. Her illustrations have been published in the New York Times, O: The Oprah Magazine, Real Simple, Good Housekeeping and Sunset magazine. Her work has been exhibited by the Royal Botanical Gardens and the Smithsonian National Museum for Natural History. She is currently an instructor at the New York Botanical Garden and leads workshops at her farm in Accord, New York. She is the author of Botanical Drawing in Color and the illustrator of Foraging and Feasting: A Field Guide and Wild Food Cookbook.

I absolutely love this book! I have just started drawing and have bought a few other botanical instruction books, but this was by far the best. It is full of detailed instructions that are incredibly clear and take you right from the basics of drawing to more complex skills. I love the way it is designed - with the initial chapters giving core skills, and then the later chapters being ones that can be dipped in and out of. The drawings themselves are wonderful, and are so inspiring! The book is so well put together and is itself a lovely work of art!

This is a wonderful book, written with so much love for drawing and for the nature. I am not good at drawing, but this book is easy to follow the instructions, excellent pictures and examples.As the author says, the book is not only for the results, but to enjoy the process of understanding botanical drawings and enjoy the practice.

Se cerchi una guida per avventurarti nel magnifico mondo del disegno botanico questo libro è per te.Ricco di belle illustrazioni, di consigli molto utili e di preziosi suggerimenti ti piacerà sicuramente, sia che tu sia un principiante assoluto, sia se sei già ad un livello più avanzato.Non gli do 5 stelle, perché la qualità della stampa non rende giustizia ai bellissimi disegni della bravissima Wendy Hollander
