About this item:
If you have inverted or flat nipples, Medela nipple formers can prepare them for breastfeeding and help your baby latch on. The nipple
formers come in two parts: a soft and supple silicone membrane that is gentle on skin, and an outer shell with holes in the
top that allow air to circulate, preventing humidity. The shell’s shape has been optimised to create a snug, comfortable fit,
and it has a low profile so it won’t show through your clothes. While wearing nipple formers, some breast milk may collect
in the shell. Do not feed this to your baby, simply discard it when you clean the shells.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product
These are fantastic for helping baby to latch. I used them for my second child after my first child couldn't latch to my flat nipples and it helped me tremendously. They also catch excess milk when baby doesn't feed for a long time which I'm sure helps to prevent mastitis. Now on my third child and I didn't use then straight away so have just come out of hospital for a seven day stint after getting severe mastitis. I promptly bought another set of these and now wear them during the day. Baby is latching much faster and the formers are collecting that excess milk which is making my breasts feel much more comfortable. Highly recommend !
5.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it says.
Had issue with nipple size due to engorgement once milk came in. Definitely made a difference. Only had to use for a short time but worked great. Collected quite a bit of let down, box advices to discard which is a shame.
4.0 out of 5 stars Worked well with only one issue
The reason for me buying these was to help my baby latching. I suffer with one flat and one inverted nipple. At the start of my journey, I very nearly gave up because the pain was horrendous and quite honestly, I wondered how the hell anyone could ever enjoy or recommend breast feeding. I spent many nights on Google asking when the pain would likely stop whilst nearly crying at the thought of my baby wanting feeding so soon after the last feed.During my research I saw that these could potentially help by having my nipples ready to feed from.. after using shields and trying different feeding positions, I didn’t have another way to go. After a day of wearing these, I can’t tell you the difference. I was actually enjoying feeding my baby and the inner happiness and self confidence from doing that made me want to cry happy tears! My baby is 9 weeks old. I had a day off using them and my nipples did stay more latchable than before I got them.. however I realised that my issue wasn’t that. It was something called vasospasm (I learnt during further research). So the ‘former’ concept of these does work, but it also worked for vasospasm pain too. If you suffer with this I highly recommend!!** HOWEVER there is one frustrating aspect to these - the spillage/leakage when you bend down. Because of their comfort, it’s easy to forget you’re wearing them. BIG mistake - wet patches are not easy to hide, unless you’re wearing black!! I have several versions of these now and some are available with leak preventing additions. Without any accidents, I’ve started to use the leaked milk as back up and freeze for potential needed feeds in the future. I can easily leak and freeze 3oz in one day, just keep in fridge until 3oz then freeze in a bag - without the need to express when it’s hard to find the time.Hope this helps
1.0 out of 5 stars Not nipple formers at all- just plastic cups.
Fast delivery. I bought these after reading about them as nipple formers to help suction out and "form nipple" for anyone struggling with baby latch, now unless you have nipples the size of an elephant that are already protruding I'm not quite sure how these are supposed to work because there is no suction power. These are just plastic cups that can sit in your bra and do nothing. Sorry Medela but these are pointless, you need something with gentle suction to help form the nipple.
3.0 out of 5 stars Wish there weren’t so many holes at top
I know these aren’t officially collection cups but they do fill with let down and would be handier is they just had one spout hole at the top as opposed to several! Couple of times I’ve been wearing and bent down and spilt milk everywhere. But they do help to stop nipples flattening out.
5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what i needed
My mum suggested these to me in the early days of nursing as she suffered from flat/inverted nipples as I did. These don't use suction, as some have misunderstood, but pressure to gently make your nipple more pronounced. For me, they were a godsend at the beginning. I had one flat and one inverted nipple. Using these kept my nipples from going back to their natural flatness between feedings, making it easier for my baby to latch on to the next feed. The holes keep the air circulating, which is great if you've suffered nipple trauma and need to keep you bra off the skin. A bit of lanolin and we healed much faster. The downside of the holes is that you can create quite a wet spot on your shirt if you have been leaking milk then bend over! I used breast pads whenever I wore these to help absorb any leaks.I wore these nearly every day for 2 months , sterilised them overnight and boiled them every few days. They held up well to regular use. After about 2 months we no longer need them, they did their job and baby did his so I've got easily latchable nipples now! ;-)
5.0 out of 5 stars Changed whole breastfeeding experience for me. Amazing.
Really struggled with breast feeding to begin with. I would not have been able to continue easily without these.I have quite flat nipples & struggled until I started using these. They provide a gap to stop friction on sensitive nipples, allowing them to heal (if necessary) or to prevent damage. They also help to shape nipples for a better latch. Does not cause nipple/bottle confusion as shields can. This product has changed the whole breastfeeding experience for me.Also, I roll up a cotton wool pad in mine (& change when saturayed) to absorb some leaking, otherwise it pours out when you lean forward and that is most unglamorous.
5.0 out of 5 stars Effective product
These really helped my newborn latch on to what was previously a very flat nipple. Easy to wear, forgot I had them in my bra sometimes.Just be warned if you leak any milk into them, be careful when taking them out. The milk can leak out of the air holes.
