Upon arrival I was impressed with the quality of this item. It is relatively compact, well made and do exactly what we need. I proceeded to tell my partner and her teenage son that they have to be very careful as this is sharp, use the guard, teenager not to be unsupervised to begin with etc. etc.Fast forward a couple of weeks and I'm cooking tea, music playing, glass of wine poured, I'm in full flow. Time to start slicing all of the items for the overly elaborate pickled Asian salad which was going with out meal. Revelling at how well the slices were coming out and being proud of my work I instantly came down to earth with a crash. Searing pain through my finger, red on my hand...You see I wasn't using the guard, I know better and (thought) I was being careful. After the blood cleared this device had removed a chunk of my nail and, possibly a section of the nail bed.I summary for the stars:Well made and good design - 5 starsHow it feels when you get it wrong - 0 starsSharpness - 5 stars (it cut through nail with zero resistance).Seeing as the zero is due to my stupidity it has to be five stars, buy but be careful.

Loved the slicer. Sharp, safe and does exactly as described.At first I thought the grips weren't gripping the potato firmly enough, but I soon realised to just place the potato onto the slicer and then place the guard on top and slide up and down.Made my first ever batch of completely fat free home-made crisps and am delighted

No more fingers and thumbs knife work since I have removed them using the amazing mandolin! In my eagerness to cut every vegetable my fridge holds I have cut all my fingernails too! Sure makes for a crunchy salad and the blood does thicken the sauce! Great mandolin and one sharp blade!

Wow. I decided in my infinite wisdom that I needed a mandoline (after all, who doesn't?!). I actually just bought this for making ratatouille, which was amazing, and nicked my finger of the edge a tiny big (my own fault) - ouch! But was great to use and clean in the dishwaasher.The next day I decided to make a vegetarian lasagna, and therefore wanted to make long strips of courgette. Looking back I should have cut the courgette in half lengthways before subjecting it to my beginner mandoline culinary skills. I didn't, got distracted, didn't use the guard and whilst talking to my son, encountered the blade up and very personal with my thumb.Like love, the sting was sharp and the bleeding profuse - I held it above my my head which ran down my arm and freaked out my 6yr old who decided I needed an ambulance. I didn't, but boy the really thumb bleeds a lot! It looked like I had a crimson viper coiling it's way around and up/down my arm. Nothing seemed to help (and I had no steristrips), so I held it aloft, applied pressure til it was the calmest it could be and smeared it with superglue (my thumb not the mandoline). Eventually it healed/ stopped looking like I'd cut a major artery, and when everything was calm enough I removed the superglue (released the blood blister that had built up, steri-stripped the sides together (thank you husband) and glued the edges. Everything's good!Steri-Strips Skin Closures x 8Loctite 0000602 Super Glue Tube - 3 gThat is until I came to use it again today and found that at 5am my husband in his infinite wisdom, had decided to make toast with the mandoline on top - so it's now melted together.This was perfect for slicing, good guards, easy to use, dishwasher proof but not toaster/ husband proof! Need anoher one, and having looked at the others on the market, I don't see why I would need anything else but this one!

At this time of the year when I want to whip up a quick salad or salad roll for lunch I want to make cutting salad vegetables as quick and easy as I can. At this time of the year I normally opt for a V slicer however normally by the end of the season I'm throwing this away due to vegetables getting stuck in the V section. This year I decided to opt for a mandoline as I don't really use all the features of a V slicer anyway.The price is great and the product does what it says on the tin. The blade is obviously very sharp noticeable by the way it slices through veggies. So far I've used this to slice my leeks and dice my onion for my Lentil soup and slicing tomatoes/cucumber/lettuce and peppers for salad rolls. The Mandoline made short work of all these veggies although for the larger veggies I did have to chop them in half as the mandoline width is smaller than the normal V slicer but this didn't really bother me. There are three level of thickness to use, so far I've only used the biggest one which I think is a size you would have to take a bit of time to get with a knife (being a novice). Havent used this over a bowl to see how the ridges hold up but they are rubber and the blade cuts so easily I'm sure it will be fine.Its easy to clean, rinse under the tab and a scrub (careful now!) onto the draining board to dry and back in the drawer. The blades have a lock so you can't accidentally cut yourself while rooting around your drawer and the holder also clips onto the body of the slicer to keep them together.Don't think I'll buy another expensive V slicer again!

Looks cheap doesn't it? Don't let that fool you because it is excellent, it really is. I'm forever using it and now look for recipes that have wafer thin veg in it just so I can use it. At the thicker settings I use it for carrots etc, thin setting for potatoes.I have no idea what the more expensive versions do that this doesn't as I can't fault it.
Work great. No blood
I scrapped a mandoline I had for years since it almost always drew blood. This one doesn't have deifferent plates or blades, it adjusts by sliding an adjustment button . It works nicely and its easy to keep your fingers off the blade. Easy to clean and takes minimal space.
Great tool
I have had many mandolins in my lifetime inexpensive and expensive none compare to this mandolin it's wicked Sharp and slices through hard veggies with these the only thing that took a little getting used to was the spring loaded vegetable holder but once I got the nac of how to use it it works really well holds potato and pushes it to the end leaving only a small bit unsliced this is a well made tool sturdy well designed

Excelente produto
Muito útil pra fatiar tomates, repolho, maçã, pepinos. Cenoura Julienne fica muito prático pra fazer yakissoba. Laminas muito amoladas, fácil de limpar. Tamanho ideal, firme na bancada, suporte pra fatiar o alimento muito bom, emborrachado. Excelente.
