Maybe I didn't read the description properly but I was surprised to find a really good activity book in the box too. It has the odd, American reference in there (eg dollars) but that's easy to work around. They seem good quality and we're well packaged.

Use these to teach maths. Great to help understand quantities, numbers, place value, 4 rules etc.etc. I would say invaluable to make numbers secure in early years and useful for so many concepts. No gimics or fancy stuff just does what it says on the box, and a whole lot more. Great!!

My Son's Maths Tutor recommended that we purchase a set of these to aid with my Son's Maths learning. He is in year 3 primary. It would have been useful to have the hundreds, tens and units in different colours like some others I have seen.

Good quality set that helps make things clearer for visual thinkers. Would recommend. Comes with an activity book but seems a little advanced for my six year old sons level at the moment

Amazing product which shall be used for many years, some many ways to use them and kids respond to the understanding so much quicker and are more able to understand the principle of adding and subtraction. The book was an added bonus with lots of new teaching ideas, shame its set up in dollars though.

It is good to see that some things are still around after 25 years and are still being used as learning aids. I recall using the wooden version of these in primary school, firstly to learn addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and secondly as a building tool.Now I have bought these for my kids to help them with their mathematics. It is definitely a great help as it helps them to visualise what they are calculating. Some ideas:- addition using units- counting 10's using the base 10- expressing 4 digit numbers using base 1000, 100, 10 and units

Opened this to teach a place value lesson only to find that the box had nonteb rids only hundred flats. Had to use cubes instead. Very disappointed that contents were missing and now have the hassle of returning and having to wait for resources I urgently need.

Better than the first set I bought!
I love this set, the first set I bought was yellow and I wanted a contrasting set so that when my boys are working they can distinguish their own sets. This set came with a 96 page activity book which I haven't used yet but looks like it includes some useful practices. . This set is made by Learning Resources and the previous purchase was made by Ideal (no longer available on Bolo). This set contains 1 Cube, 10 Flats, 30 Rods (although we received 50) I'm not sure if this was a simple packaging error or a replacement to meet shipping deadline. and 100 units. I'm very happy with my purchase it's sturdy and durable and comes in a big enough box that you can store in the box or if you have a replace in a container of your own. I would definitely use this seller again.
Awesome for learning math in grade one
This really helped with online learning for grade 1 math. It was helpful to have a tangible learning tool to complement online learning.
