Bought as a gift. And really appreciated by its recipient, who spent hours carefully painting each planet as well as he could.Assembly isn't physically too difficult, but working out the order of assembly and what goes where required some help.A great sense of achievement accompanied completion.Would I recommend this? Yes, for a child with an interest in the solar system.

I must say I really didn't expect much from this item. When I bought it, I thought it'd be a bit of quick fun, a two minutes and throw away kind of job. But it turns out it's much more than that!How good it is for child use, I unfortunately cannot say. I myself am somewhat of a big kid, and love science and space. And I loved it. It's easy to do, and you end up with a nice display piece afterwards. Also it comes with awesome glow in the dark paint, which actually illuminates the planets at night time.The paint provided gives you the freedom to paint the planets how you like.Make sure you look carefully at the instructions, to make sure you've put the right planets in the right place!Also be careful what poles you use to stick the planets in, as if you use the wrong ones you won't be able to spin them past each other.Some of the plastic pieces are difficult to extract and put together, probably because this isn't the highest quality item out there. For the price you pay, you really can't go wrong though. A great way to spend an afternoon!Pros: so much fun, glow in the dark and a quality ornament afterCons: Some of the plastic is difficult to separate. Also quite difficult to put the planets together.Overall, highly recommended.

First time round had a missing part, which we didn't discover until sometime after when we came to build it. But this was resolved very fast (next day) with a new item being sent, which was complete and we are currently painting.Excluding the first time, I would recommend this as a good little educational project and my girls are enjoying it.

Very accurately moulded and engineered but the Sun and planets are not accurately scaled e.g in real life the Sun is 865,000 miles in diameter and Mercury is only 3,100 i.e. 0.35% of the Sun's dia. But the model shows the Sun at 40mm and Mercury at 12mm and it real life, Saturn is 25 times the diameter of Mercury, so either Saturn must be reduced or Mercury increased in size for display purposes.For a practical display model the orbital distances also have to be reduced enormously a 40mm Sun would place Mercury about 800mm away and if it was to scale Neptune would be 60m away (you would need a bigger house). That said, when painted up, it looks very nice. (I am in the process of installing a more realistic model spanning 250m and even here the planet sizes have to be increased to be practical).

Justo lo que estábamos buscando
Quería que mi hija de 5 años se aprendiera los planetas del sistema solar de una manera fácil y divertida, es una maqueta pequeña, fácil de transportar para llevar al cole. Hemos tenido que ayudarla a pintarlos, y un poco a montar la maqueta. Los materiales son resistentes, plástico duro ideal para trabajar con niños. Eso si, es imposible que un niño menor de 7 años pueda hacer la maqueta sin la supervisión o ayuda de un adulto, ya que contiene piezas pequeñas y supongo que las pinturas son tóxicas.
