5.0 out of 5 stars Super Super affordable Denon turntable.

    R.W. · 31 December 2020

This is a super super affordable Denon turn table for my old 7 inch and 12 inch records. Its an easy set up of the tone arm and anti scate mechanism. But do take care on doing this. Patience prevails to that brilliant sound quality being heard. Being fully automatic, theres no wear to the needle when the record finishes. Hence having to take the tone arm off manually. Yes some of the reviews to this t/t state the buttons on the selectors for 7 or 12 inch records, and the start, stop buttons are a bit on the flimsy side. But for the price value, it's just a small ? to this other wise superb deck. I've got my deck hooked up to a Marantz 5007 intergrated amplifier, and sonus floor standing speakers, it sounds awesome. ( oh by the way before setting up the t/t make sure to switch the button on the deck to OFF if using an amp, its under the t/t disc. follow the instruction manual, it states this at the beginning of setting up deck). So, all in all, this Denon deck is a sheer delight to have in my lounge. Just one other point, more reviews state the needle needs upgrading as the one supplied is inexpensive and seems the sound quality is insufficient. Well, i can honestly say it isn't a problem with my hi-fi system as yet. This deck is worth every penny spent.

Getting back into vinyl I remembered my old record player from my youth a TEAC, after purchasing and swiftly returning a plastic and cheap feel player to another store with utter disappointment I looked about for another player.I wanted black to fit my other items which are Marantz and knowing Denon / Marantz same company I opted for this mid range Denon. It's high quality and nice and weighty. A bit lazy with the auto play button but you still have full option to lift the arm yourself, so win win.Cartridge is nice slot in with spare wires and flip down needle protector that solid and fixed nice. The counterbalance can be altered if needed but I haven't had to adjust.Sound is very nice and the platter is solid. Overall looks great

4.0 out of 5 stars Good overall.

Recently updated my hi-fi to take up less space and go into 21st century! Bought this turntable to pair with a Denon internet friendly receiver/CD. The deck gives good sound quality as it is but an update to Ortofon 2M Red cartridge has improved it further. Like other reviews I do wish the arm could be clipped to its rest, The auto-cue works well on 12" discs (yet to try 45's), I found the assembly and set-up straightforward, though admit to viewing on line vids on the subject. The cartridge change and set-up was also easy. A good budget piece of kit.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent turntable

A great turntable for the money , easy to set up and use . If I had to find something on the downside it would be the feel of the auto play button , feels loose and cheap but maybe a manufacture fault On my unit. It doesn’t affect me as I place the needle myself . Don’t let that put you off though

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality I'd expect from Denon.

Quick delivery. Denon product of excellent quality as expected. Easy to set up and use with existing Denon system. Sound quality very good. Can't fault the product at all, plays antique vinyl's as well as when I bought them in the 60's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good value for money and sounds and looks good too

I bought the Denon after a lot of research as a part of a separate system in my living room. I already have a Technics Sl23 as a set up in another room. After years of purchasing older used equipment I decided I wanted a completely new set up and also wanted the convenience of an auto start and return. I compared the Denon and a Pioneer PL30 and both are very similar in price and appearance. I eventually plumped for the Denon when it was on sale at £237 rather than the £299 price so it was an even better deal than I had expected. It looks good and sounds good, I have bought a separate head-shell and fitted an Ortofon 2m red cartridge which improves the detail over the original spherical one which in fairness sounded ok for everyday listening. It isn't as substantial as my older gear but I am very happy with the sound quality through a Marantz PM6005 amplifier and Dali Zensor 1 speakers. They are all still bedding in but improving all the time. The room is around 14 x 12 feet and this set up is just right for power and volume. So, I would happily recommend the Denon DP300, and am looking forward to upgrading to a Denon 2M Blue when I can sneak it past my wife!Delivery was quick and everything worked as it should.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a really good Turntable!

    O.H. · 31 January 2016

Quite impressed,I tried an Audio Technica AT-LP120 and Pro-Ject Debut Carbon, both returned due to quality issues and faults. The Denon sounds as good and I'm told will be even better if you upgrade the stock cartridge.I have switched off the pre-amp which is factory set to on,and connected to an older Sony amplifier with Phono inputs.Very very happy with the sound and build quality,Also it really is relaxing putting a record on,pushing a button and not having to run to lift up the tone arm at the end of a record. The full automation works really well. Can't fault it,unlike the other two I mentioned there are no hums or feedback noise or noisy motors,Just the music!

Good looking bit of kit. Sounds terrific. Easy to set up. Just follow the Utube video. The one-off and speed/size buttons are rather naff but this is a minor niggle. Otherwise an impressive stylish build. No blue tooth or usb, which would be an advantage.
