Seeking relief from an itchy, sore scalp due to psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis? The clinically proven Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic Shampoo is the answer. The T/Gel shampoo was especially developed with dermatologists to work in three ways; reducing flakiness, alleviating itchiness, and calming scalp redness. The active ingredient Neutar™ Solubilised Coal Tar extract is clinically proven to help fight dandruff. Neutar has also been shown to relieve itching, reduce the symptoms of psoriasis, break up oils and remove flakes and a keratolytic to loosen and exfoliate skin cells. The lightly fragranced formulation can therefore help in the treatment for itchy, flaky scalp disorders such as dandruff, psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis, leaving your hair shiny and manageable.

Regular use of the flaky scalp shampoo for up to 6 weeks will help treat these problems. The T/Gel shampoo can be used by adults and children aged 12 years and over.

Application instructions: Apply liberal amounts of shampoo and massage into the scalp to form a rich lather. Leave the lather on the scalp for several minutes. Rinse and repeat the application once more. The shampoo should not be used more than two or three times a week. If there is no improvement after 6 weeks use, contact your doctor or pharmacist. If irritation develops, stop using the shampoo and contact your doctor if necessary. Use this medicine only on your scalp.

The Active Ingredient is: Neutar™ Solubilised Coal Tar Extract 20 mg/ml, Other Ingredients are: Macrogol Lauryl Ether (4), Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate, Cocodiethanolamide, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Methyl Parahydroxybenzoate (E218), Propyl Parahydroxybenzoate (E216), Tetrasodium EDTA, Citric Acid Anhydrous, Perfume (contains Esters of Benzoic Acid, Benzyl Benzoate and Butylated Hydroxytoluene (E321)), Sodium Chloride and Purified Water

Directions

1. Wet your hair thoroughly. 2. Apply a generous amount of shampoo to your scalp. 3. Gently massage, covering all areas of the scalp. 4. Rinse thoroughly. 5. For best results, repeat application. 6. Use as directed by a healthcare professional for treating scalp psoriasis and seborrhoeic dermatitis.

Safety Warning

Do not use this product if you have had a bad reaction to coal tar or any ingredients in this product. Inflamed or broken skin. A rare and severe form of psoriasis causing redness, inflammation and blistering of the skin (erythrodermic or pustular psoriasis). If any of the above applies talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Special warnings about the product: avoid contact with eyes coal tar may cause your skin to react to sunlight after use, so you should avoid direct sunlight immediately after use. In rare cases, there may be temporary discolouration of blond, bleached or tinted hair. Pregnancy and breast-feeding do not use if you are pregnant or breast-feeding unless recommended by your doctor. Some of the ingredients can cause problems methyl (e218) and propyl (e216) parahydroxybenzoate may cause allergic reactions which could be delayed. Esters of benzoic acid, benzyl benzoate and butylated hydroxytoluene (e321) can mildly irritate the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. If anyone has swallowed this product if you or your child accidentally swallows t/gel shampoo, contact a doctor or your nearest accident and emergency department (casualty) taking this pack with you. Possible side-effects this product can have side-effects like all medicines, although these don't affect everyone and are usually mild. Effects which may occur include: swelling of the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing. Allergic reactions including itchy rash and sensitivity to light. Dry hair, hair loss, acne like breakouts or rash. Application site reactions including skin irritation, burning sensation, itching and dry scalp. Reporting of side-effects if you get any side-effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. I don't know what it is about the smells of old soaps, but I love them all. The smell of Pears Original Soap, Carbolic Soap, Coal Tar Shampoo. All the old smells just feel reassuring. They're the smells that build the industrial age and propelled us through into the digital age.It feels that, since the mass manufacturing of more complex chemicals, that we've moved into an era of people being bedazzled by nonsense terms like "hyaluironic acid", "regenerative micro-crystals", "Angi-Aging Formulation". It's all snake-oil. At the very best, it'll give you a few hours of softer-feeling skin/hair, and then you'll be right back to where you are. Quick test: Using these ultra-expensive shampoos, can you go for any longer without washing your hair/face? No? Still needing to do it daily just like with normal shampoo/soap? Then what's the point?T/Gel is a final holdout in this fight to keep traditional remedies and personal products on the shelves. It's stood the test of time as a solid treatment for all kinds of skin ailments, thanks to its unusual choice of using coal tar. Coal is bad, right? Smoke, lung cancer, blech. Tar is bad.. Cigarettes, lung cancer, death... But what if you don't try to inhale it, but use it on your skin instead? Surprisingly, a very effective dandruff / scalp flakiness solution.We had to use this temporarily on my daughter who was having problems with flaky scalp, while having oily skin, leading to spots under the hair line, scratching, and some infections. We tried a number of 'posh' shampoos that my other half uses, but they didn't really help. We even tried my Head & Shoulders, which kinda worked, but didn't clear it up. A few baths with T/Gel, and her scalp had zero flakes, zero spots and the itchiness was 100x better. We kept it up for about 3 months (2 baths a week, plus the occasional shower), and her hair was clean and clear, and her skin perfect. So we then switched back to a shampoo that was a better smell (for her).So now I'm using the T/Gel because I get some flakey scalp (guess we know where she gets it from), and it's completely removed all flakes and itchiness.A brilliant product that many overlook in favour of other things "made from natural ingredients" (spoiler, they aren't), in a laboratoire (spoiler, they weren't, they were made in a factory).get T/Gel. It's a no-fuss, no mess fast solution using traditional methods tested by generations.Get some carbolic soap while you're at it to tidy your skin up, and hey presto, you're a fresh-faced beauty for a fraction of the price :) (if you can't stand the smell of carbolic, pears clear soap is a fair second for non-greasy skin).

Now I have a very love hate relationship with Tgel. Love being it does work and is the best I’ve found for dry scalp. The bad being it’s very strong int be way it smells. I tend to mix it with nice shampoo not it lingers it’s not the worst smell but worth mentioning. On the whole I find it works better then head and shoulders etc

I've always suffered from a dry and itchy scalp, along with the associated dandruff, very attractive... Naturally I'd tried all kinds of special shampoos, none of which made any difference, so I'd just resigned myself to the idea that this was something I had to live with.Prior to this, my regular shampoo was "Head & Shoulders". I continued to buy it despite it making absolutely no difference to my scalp. I think because it is so ubiquitous I had assumed that it must be effective and so if it didn't reduce my dandruff nothing else would..On a whim I bought this, I didn't expect it to help much but I love the smell of coal tar! It transformed the health of my scalp.. No lie, no exaggeration, within a week of daily use, the issues I'd suffered with since childhood were gone. No itching, no dryness, no dandruff.It used to be so embarrassing to see my shoulders covered in dandruff, I even had dandruff in my damn eyebrows, it was awful! The stigma is horrible too, it just feels dirty, despite washing my hair everyday, often twice a day, I still felt like my hair was unclean because of the persistent and seemingly limitless dandruff, but now it has all gone, all of it, no flakes at all, nothing on my clothes, it's gone, amazing!If you're struggling with dandruff I cant recommend this stuff enough.

I keep repurchasing this product because it really helps with my scalp- itchy, flaky and I struggle with it especially in the winter season but this shampoo really helps If used regularly. The smell is quite strong and probably not the most pleasant one, just bear that in mind, but I use another shampoo after to adjust the smell and smoothen my hair. I recommend it for the scalp in particular
