Permatex Gear Oil RTV Gasket Maker is specially formulated to withstand the harsh gear oil environment found in differentials and transfer cases. Gear oil has friction modifiers that break down normal RTV and cause leaking, but this specialty silicone has been tested to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications to ensure complete sealing power. As a gasket maker it seeks and seals leak paths that cut gaskets cannot. Suggested Applications: Differentials and transfer cases.

Used this to seal the differentials on my Land Rover - works perfectly, as I expected it to do. It's specifically designed to seal compartments containing gear oil. I used Blue Hylomar - a good sealant, but not specific to gear oil sealing - on some other gearbox components & I do have a few small leaks. Well, it's a Land Rover, they do leak - but I think this Permatex Gear Oil sealer is most likely to minimize them! Recommended!

Great Gear oil sealant
I used this sealant on the axle tube of my Cockshutt 540 tractor where it bolts to the rear end housing. ThisPermatex sealant seems to do a really good job, it is thick and the caulking gun makes it easy to get the right amount especially when your hands are gooped up. lolIt drys rather stiff, but not hard, and I think it will do a permanant job of sealing that expensive oil in my tractor. I just hope I won't have to remove it anytime soon.silicone.
