5.0 out of 5 stars Great product
Bought this for my Mum for Christmas as she is getting older now and was struggling with her older meat grinder. Most can be very noisy to use, but this one is so much quieter than many others, Mum is so very pleased with this grinder is so many way, it's been easier for her to use, not too heavy, very stable/sturdy on the kitchen worktop whilst making her sausages, very compact for ease of storage. Highly recommend this product, little pricey compared to some, but certainly makes up for in quality, functionability, ease of use, cleaning and storage. Highly recommend this model and brand.
5.0 out of 5 stars Works well
Worked through maybe 50 kg of fat beef ribs so early days but it works well so far. It’s not industrial quality so need to make sure it’s well chilled, or even better, keep in the freezer before use. Cut up meat in small pieces. Then going through 5 kg of meat is a breeze. It’s veeeery loud so wouldn’t be mincing meat for fun with it. But it works very fast so not really an issue. Was surprised how little meat was leftover inside compared to cheaper mincers I had before. Overall great quality for the price
5.0 out of 5 stars Good robust product
I use this for making sausage - mincing the pork and stuffing the casings, works very wellGood robust build quality - noisy in operation but can live with thatQuite heavy - but that's a plusHappy to recommend
4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful grinder
Great meat grinder. Used it number of times and so far very pleased. It has enough power do grind through tougher meat cuts without any issues. It is loud but this is to be expected. You can use it for stuffing but from my experience it would be better to use manual stuffer as you get better control and also you do not put the meat through additional grinding, as this is what happens with electric stuffers.I also wished it came with one more attachment, 3 hole cutting plate - for thicker cuts. I am yet to see if these can be sourced somewhere, Kenwood does not sell them.Great for grinding, not so much for stuffing if you want thicker pieces in your sausages.
1.0 out of 5 stars Beware - (important) plastic parts inside
It worked fine for a while (3 batches of homemade sausages) but last time I used it just stopped working. The screw wouldn't turn so I opened it up and discovered that the gear that is connected to the engine is metal but all the other ones are plastic, so even the smallest jam will destroy the cogs in the plastic gear. I bought this unit thinking it was very high quality with all (visible) parts in stainless steel, but in fact the most important bit is plastic so it seems like it's programmed not to last too long. Very dissapointed.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent piece of kit
Delivery was ahead of schedule by UPS and was in perfect condition. I would note however that it was delivered in the display box without exterior packaging.Whilst I have given the machine a five star rating which it deserves it has a very poor instruction leaflet. You would have thought a company like Kenwood could do better than this. My primary reason for the purchase was to produce my own sausages and the level of information on this in the instruction book is very poor. Below are some tips that I can share on its use for producing sausages.1. First ensure you have the right tools to clean it afterwards otherwise it is a nightmare as you cant put the parts in the dishwasher. I use a bottle brush, a test tube brush and a nail brush with these I can clean the whole thing in about 10 minutes. I dry the metal parts with paper towel then put them on top of the oven to ensure they are completely dry then spray with vegetable oil and store in a plastic bag.2. Before using assemble the grinder attachment and put it in the freezer (not the motor) for an hour or two. The grinder can get hot and this discolours the meat. If it starts off very cold this does not happen.3. Chop your meat beforehand and put it in the freezer until the temperature is just above freezing. Separate the fat and cut into very small pieces. It is very important that the fat is very cold almost freezing.4. Grind your meat, add your seasonings then return to the freezer for half an hour so that again it is cold.(not frozen)5. I prefer the English "banger" style sausages so I use a 32mm cassein casing from Tongmaster on Bolo, these fit the largest stuffing nozzle.6. The small cutting screen struggles with pork. Would not recommend using it.7. Assemble the sausage attachment and load with casing and put your ground meat into the hopper. It is useful if you can get someone to keep pushing the meat down in the hopper as I find it is a two handed job to control the stuffing process.8. If you prefer "chipolata" style sausages I made some without using casings just lightly coating in flour as they were extruded.9. You get some meat left in the nozzle when the screw drive is empty, I put some breadcrumbs in at the end so that the remaining meat is forced through.10. I have found that the sausages are best left in the fridge for 24 hours before cooking or freezing as the taste from the seasonings seems to develop better. So far I have used turkey, beef, pork and chicken all with success. The grinder can be a little noisy when it is under a load (sounds like a vacuum cleaner), pork seems to be the worst.
5.0 out of 5 stars Superb machine all round
After checking out reviews for a lot of machines i decided to go with this Kenwood. I am more than happy with my choice. Dispatch was amazingly quick (arrived 2 days after dispatch).Build quality is great, with a nice full metal body unlike a lot of cheap plastic machines is very easy to keep clean and is very sturdy.I have so far minced several pounds of pork which was done very quickly with no issues at all.Sausage making worked like a charm. Not the quickest sausage maker, but for domestic use more than adequate.I made several strings of homemade sausage which taste delicious and i know exactly whats in them unlike shop bought ones. And my friends and family are happy with the end product aswell :)Machine building, break down and cleaning again has no issues. All parts are solid and well made and come apart very easily. Stripping down from mincer to sausage making takes literally a matter of seconds.I can not think of any cons for this machine and think if your looking for a good, well built machine with metal parts not plastic, its worth spending that little bit more for a machine that will last and this Kenwood for me fits the bill.
3.0 out of 5 stars Powerful but overhearts
Despite its powerful motor and sleek design, the Kenwood 1600W Meat Grinder MG510 falls short in performance. It struggles with grinding tougher meats and tends to overheat quickly, making it less reliable for frequent use.
