About this item:
Waterbased Polyurethane Primer. This Surface Primer can be used directly or mixed with other Auxiliary products like Varnishes, Mediums, etc. It is recomended to avoid mixing Surface Primer with alcohol and/or solvents. Apply with airbrush or brush. This Surface Primer has a selflevelling matt finish of extraordinary hardness and resistence, and does not hide details. Perfect as a ground for plastic, brass, resin, etc. Surface Primer can be cleaned easily using water; for a more thorough cleaning we recomend Airbrush Cleaner (Ref.71.099)

5.0 out of 5 stars Recommended all-round primer for miniature painters.
I gave this product 5stars for ease of use - and by that I mean it is easy to pop off the lid and pour out the paint - though this is an airbrushing product and getting the dilution absolutely correct is a dark art - something I am only starting to grasp. In general, I think this is an excellent primer. I use it exclusively for priming miniatures. It takes a few light coats to get full coverage, but as long as you use a gentle touch and let each coat dry fully between applications then it produces beautiful results. When compared to rattle-can spray-primers, the preservation of detail and absence of additional texture when using an airbrush to apply the primer is stark. The finish is a pale, neutral grey; much closer to white than black. I have not yet tried brush-painting directly onto the primed mini, only airbrushing paints on, and that works great. Just go easy and let things dry before you add more layers. As for diluting your paint, I found I had to or else it dried on the airbrush tip/nozzle. I tried distilled water, airbrush flow improver, standard thinner, and airbrush thinner (all Vallejo) in different combinations. The dedicated airbrush thinner would be my go-to, ease-of-use recommendation with my current level of experience. Be aware that this is very thin paint with a very low surface tension straight out of the pot, and it is easy for the lid to get messy. I transfer an aliquot to a smaller dropper bottle with a narrow applicator and carefully dilute in the dropper bottle so I can transfer directly to the airbrush. And I prime in batches (priming days) because you will need to strip down the airbrush and give it a full clean after using primer - it likes to dry quickly, and it particularly likes to dry to itself. Will be buying more Vallejo primers from this range.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great all round primer.
Works great through an brush and doesn't need thinning. Drying time is quick and it leaves details easy to see.Great value for money.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great primer
Easy to use, doesn't need thinning to much and flows nicely through the air brush. Gives a nice matte finish (looks glossy when wet).Only down side is the nozzle, I really don't get on with Vallejo nozzles. I find that it runs a bit which sits in the lid.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great primer
Will probably need a couple of coats but the finish on this primer is really good. It's a small bottle but will last a little while
5.0 out of 5 stars It is best for use by a scale modeller
Arrived promptly and is very easy to find on Bolo and is the most practical way to prepare model aircraft for painting. Is the most accessible way to use ready prepared. In addition is the most sure way to ensure that models are completed to the highest levels of accuracy and specification. One of the most useful products that I have found so far on Bolo
5.0 out of 5 stars Arrived quickly, in BIG box :-)
Just darn good
4.0 out of 5 stars A little thick but does the job
Needs thinning but does a pretty good job once you have the consistency good (similar to that of milk).
5.0 out of 5 stars My go to primer.
Been using Vallejo primer for quite a while but usually the grey. Needed black for a certain project, using an airbrush coverage is exceptional and leaves a great finish ready to paint over. Its never let me down and I can’t see me ever using any other brand.
Great product
Bought this one and another primer both work perfect in my airbrush can’t wait to order more in different colors
Excellent product
Cover real well, with a thin coat
Good primer
Easy to use, very thin. If you want full coverage, use an airbrush.
Nice, even, detailed coat
This came out great on my recent model. It laid down nicely with an airbrush (only added a couple drops of flow improver) and it even hand-brushes well. Coverage, while not perfect, is decent. You'll have to lay down multiple coats if you're covering up darker colors. It dries very thin so even very fine model details still pop. Love it! The color is a bit lighter and more yellow-ey than I expected, but it's a primer, so it works.
