5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny!
We have been using this for a good 4 months now and I highly recommend it. We used it in our next 2 me crib, and have now moved it to the bigger cot when she moved to her own room. It has worked perfectly throughout and the only time it has gone off is when we've forgotten to switch it off! It beeps a few times first and then the loud siren goes off.... those beeps make you feel like you're on crystal maze or something when you are running towards the cot at 3am desperately trying to make it in time before the siren sounds !!There are a few things that I thought might be helpful to share:* When using with the next 2 me crib (or similar), you can't have the crib right next to your bed. It will pick up on your movement, which therefore makes the whole product redundant. We moved the crib about 10 cm away from the side of our bed and it was fine. I'd just recommend testing it by making big movements on your bed and seeing if the light flashes (do this when your baby isn't in the cot). If it does then you know it's picking up you and the cot therefore needs to be further away.* The other thing to note is that unless your crib has holes in it, then you might need to get creative with the wire that goes between the mat and the switch. So again with our next 2 me, there was nowhere to poke the wire through without us punching a hole in the lining. This was fine when she was small as we had it coming up at the top of the mattress but when she became more mobile we actually needed to move it. We ended up having it come up from the bottom of the mattress and fed it up into where the lining splits. This meant only a tiny bit was on show in her cot. I secured it tightly on the outside as well so that if she ever did get hold of the wire, she couldn't pull it and get tangled in it. When we moved it to there, she never saw it or tried to grab it which was good.* Linked to the above, the animal stickers are great for making it slightly more fun but also be aware that if your baby is anything like ours, then when they get to a certain age they will be even more intrigued by it and want to get to that cute little lion even more!* The last thing to note is that when you buy it you also get a little adaptor. Make sure you keep this somewhere safe! If you need to buy a second mat to cover a wider area when you transition to a bigger cot you will need this adaptor and the second mat doesn't come with it. I've also read that the company don't supply spares (although I don't know if that's true)All in all it's an excellent product. It works exactly as it should and now my little one sleeps on her front too, it really does give me that extra reassurance (especially when she likes to roll over and be face down!) I always 'calibrated' it at night - I basically listened to babies breathing and checked the flashing light matched, this also gave me peace of mind that it was working as it should. We haven't needed a second one in her bigger cot so far and she gets around it quite a bit. We have placed it fairly central and it picks up movement from all round the cot.Lastly all I would say is make sure you know what to do if it does go off. By the point of it sounding, baby might have not been breathing for 20 seconds, so you need to know how to do CPR in the event it is a genuine alarm. It seems like a lot of money but it's so worth it. We bought it because I woke to find my little one suffocating on her reflux, and I've never been so scared in my life. We were lucky, we had a close call. I immediately bought this and have never looked back. Out of all the products you need to buy when you have a baby, this is absolutely essential.(If you found this helpful, if you could tap the 'helpful' button below that would be great. 5.0 out of 5 stars Better than most audio monitors
The Nanny respiration monitor is absolutely wonderful and though my husband at first thought it was overkill he now fully agrees. We already had a Philips Avent digital audio monitor but I really wanted this for the peace of mind. Our son was born too small so it was a fantastic reassurance to have this alarm. The mat goes under the mattress and is one of the largest available so false alarms are not an issue. The monitor itself is attached to the side of the crib or cot and when on blinks green with every breath the baby takes, which by the way is very accurate. When you take the baby out without switching the alarm off you get to hear what you would also hear in case of a respiratory stop or a respiration frequency below 8/min: first a few clicks so you remember to put it off in case you forgot and therefter a very loud alarm. This alarm will be audible in your whole house, unless maybe your house is a mansion, otherwise it's loud enough believe me. There is no separate parent unit but with the loudness of the alarm you don't need this. Otherwise your regular baby monitor will pick it up. As the title of my review says, I like this alarm better than our audio alarm because the most important thing we want to know is if our baby is OK and when he cries we always hear that anyway since we don't live in the previous mentioned mansion. The possibility for accurate respiration monitoring is here now and if you can afford it get it. Here is a list of pros and cons:Pros:1) Peace of mind!2) Alarm is loud enough for virtually any house except the Neverland Mansion.3) Breathing is monitored very accurately.4) No false alarms: we had none whatsoever untill now and have been using it for 4 months.5) Even though the box says you shouldn't move the mat around we have replaced it a few times from crib to cot and no problems whatsoever.6) Batteries still last after 4 months use.7) If you forget to switch the alarm off when you take baby up you first get a few warning clicks before the alarm goes off.8) Excellent value for the money spent.9) Easy to use and install.Cons:1) Ofcourse: no audio monitoring. We had a separate audio monitor and I would still recommend this, although if forced to throw one out I would keep the Nanny. So: if you can afford it, I absolutely recommend you get this. It's very easy to install and use and works very accurately.
5.0 out of 5 stars sleeping in peace :-)
I am a new father and I was not expecting to worry about so many things. Every night after the baby came home the main worry was the sleeping baby. Countless nights I would just wake up just to look and feel the baby breathing. Lets just say I didn't get a lot of sleep. My misses was the same, we needed a solution and fast. I did a bit of research and came with a few candidates to monitor the baby. I was not interested in a video monitor since if you are sleeping there is not much to see in the dark or notice with your eyes closed :-) What we needed was something that would monitor her breathing or movement while she slept. Of the 3 main options that perform this function in an affordable price only 2 have EU medical device certificates. After doing a lot more research and evaluation, the Nanny came on top because of presentation and overall functionality. Is simple, efficient and covers a wide range of the bed where the baby is sleeping. It consist of a board that goes under the mattress which then detects feather-like movements of the baby and starts an alarm if it can't sense anything for a short period of time. Now we sleep in peace knowing that if my daughter has any sort of emergency or something unexpected happens we will be made aware with the alarm. If you are curious, the alarm is akin to a fire alarm in terms of noise, it will wake up anyone I know. Highly recommended!!
4.0 out of 5 stars Great peace of mind
Had no problems with thi. It is very reassuring to have the green light as a double check of my little one is ok.We used this from around 6/7 weeks and had no false alarms.
False alarm
I used three nights, the third night it started giving false alarm. You really don’t want to run up or fix the stairs with your heart about to come up your mouth with the super loud and impressive noise. My baby woke up screaming and I cried for a long time afterwards. Would be great if it didn’t give false alarm. My va y was 3 months at the time, now 6.
Me encanta
