Strong, easy to put together, nice finish inside and out. Nice size.
5.0 out of 5 stars Neat and tidy storage
Just what I wanted. Neat size, and great finish. Possibly, the best flatpack instructions and packaging I have ever seen!
4.0 out of 5 stars Well-made, great value but harder to assemble than it should be
Unlike some of the other reviewers, My flat pack product arrived in perfect condition with no bumps or scratches. The finished product is attractive and study, although because the lid overlaps the box at the front and the back the internal capacity is smaller than it might appear (which was not a problem for us). It’s really easy to assemble until you get to the lid, where there are two problems. First, it’s not clear which way up/round the hinges should be fixed and the instructions are completely silent on that. It would have been much better if either the instructions had explained what to do or they had been labelling on the product. I got it right first time, but that was more of a relief than it should have been. However secondly (and more importantly), the pre-drilled holes for the lid hinges are slightly too small, meaning that you need to apply industrial force/torque to get the screws fully in (and unless they are fully in the hinges will rattle). Some of the screws are very small and needed a jewellers-size Philips screwdriver, which luckily I had. But a week after installing it my hand is still bruised from the amount of pressure I had to apply to get the screws in, before I cheated and used a drill to make the holes marginally larger. It’s a shame, because if I ignore the pain in my hand I am otherwise left with a good value, attractive and sturdy laundry basket…
5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality chest
Very happy with this purchase - When I initially took the parts out of the box I was a little worried it wouldn’t hold all our towels however once put together it holds a huge volume and have been able to get all our towels (15ish bath towels + mats) all in together.Assembly is very straight forward and all the screws/hinges are bagged and labelled so you know which bit goes where! I managed to build it in about 20 minutes – the screw holes are drilled accurately so there is no tugging or forcing the fit. The lid is held on by two separate sets of hinges. One set basically hold the lid on and the other is a ball bearing mechanism which holds the lid in place once lifted up – brilliant if you have a hand full of towels! After I had purchased the item I did see a similar one £15 cheaper however this didn’t have the hinged lid etc etc and I do think it’s worth the extra money as I can see this product lasting longer as it’s of a high quality. All in all very happy with the purchase and would recommend!
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect
I have two of these, as laundry baskets, on my landing. One for whites and one for colour's. They are strong, easy to assemble and they don't look cheap.
5.0 out of 5 stars Make sure you understand the assembly instructions and pay special attention to fixing the hinges
The assembled seat/laundry bin is handsome and sturdy. The installation instructions are amateurish and include a small scaled complex representation of fixing the hinges and lid stays. The manufacturer and supplier should include a video about this step and separate the instruction for the hinges from those for the stays. My advice is sit down and look at these items and work out how they go before you attempt to fit them. Also make sure you have a spare pair of hands in the initial stages. The lid stays make quit a loud click in operation. This could cause difficulty in the presence of a light sleeper.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy
Just the right size
4.0 out of 5 stars I was flummoxed by the strange 'cam-screw' system.
There was no useful , large sized info on how these worked. I've DIYed furniture many times, but I was so put off & no one to advise, & took a long time to find out there were' how to' videos on the net. But as I didn't know what the screws were called, not easy to find. The lid hinges & (proper) screws are so tiny they don't stand much use. However the chest did look nice put together & hid a lot of items that messed up the kitchen.
