Curiously, I use this classic egg timer for timing boiled eggs, and it works perfectly. I had one exactly the same for over 40 years, but recently it disappeared, hence I bought this one.

For those saying that the timer doesn't make a noise if twisted to under 15 minutes, it's because it's not been twisted enough to go off. I learned this as a result of another product's information. I nearly sent this product back before understanding this information. No instructions are included with the timer here.You have turn it clockwise one full rotation until it is at 0 again then turn it back the other way and line it up with the time you want. Even at one minute it then works and the timer will ring. Twisting it just clockwise to the time you initially want will not work.Don't believe that it's completely accurate as the timer seems to ring about 10/15 seconds short of reaching zero and then will continue to tick down until stopping. Also ran it at the same time as my phone and time wasn't exact. This doesn't bother me personally however as I bought the product to assist with the pomodoro technique as having a timer on my phone was still potentially too distracting.

I like the clean design, arty enough to display on a shelf rather than hide in a cupboard. Very easy to read and use, bearing in mind you wind it all the way to 60 mins, then back to the time you want. I'll happily use it as a general timer - for when to add soap to my dishwasher etc - but not for timing soft boiled eggs which need real accuracy. I tested it against my mobile phone and my oven timer and for a 10 minute test it was slow by a little over 30 seconds which isn't bad for what I need but on a 15 minute test it was slow by nearly 3 minutes. No instructions as to how to turn it off when the alarm starts to ring, I had to wait until it had run out of steam!
